Night is a book where a baby was used as a shooting target. This was one of the first things that started to change Elie Wiesel. Eile Wiesel is the writer and the main character of the book Night. Eile was one of the lucky people who survived the traumatic hardships of the holocaust and who could educate the world about it. Overall, Eile is a dynamic character because his faith, feelings, and mindset changed throughout the book.
In the text Night by Elie Wiesel, Eliezer suffered a full dreadful year in a concentration camp. This allows for lots of changes to him, and his thoughts. Throughout this novel Elie experienced a lot of significant alterations. A couple of main changes include his loss of religion, his reactions to traumatic situations, and his feelings towards his father. Although there are many shifts in Wiesel throughout his time in the concentration camp system, there are three notable quotes where change is present.
Eliezer Changes for the Worse Nelson Mandela once said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” This quote applies to Eliezer because everything that he experienced during the Holocaust seemed impossible. Elie Wiesel’s Night tells the story of a young boy named Eliezer who arrives at Auschwitz and goes through many tough challenges. Eliezer changed for the worse because he lost his faith, saw many horrifying things at a young age, and lost his whole family. Early on in Night, Eliezer lost his mother and his sister, Tzipora.
A dark traumatic event can cause permanent changes in a person. The is quite evident in the Holocaust during WW II. Eliezer Wiesel was a jew in the Holocaust and wrote a book titled Night about his experiences. Wiesel’s torturous experience changed his outlook on his attitude towards others. When Eliezer's book begins he is a very compassionate person.
The book Night by Elie Wiesel teaches many different lessons about the human nature, human condition, and society. Elie is a boy who grew up in Sighet, Transylvania (present day Romania) during the time that the Nazis and Adolf Hitler came to power. After being placed in ghettos, the Jews of Sighet eventually got shipped off to the concentration camps, the first being Auschwitz/Birkenau. When the Jews first arrived at these camps, they made sure to keep their friends and family close, and they looked out for each other. After months passed by, many began to grow weak due to the lack of food and harsh conditions that they faced.

Families are always in history and in the present being forcefully separated from each other when it is not expected. In history, the Holocaust separates families when they were being put into concentration camps. Now, immigration is causing families to be separated. Also, in Night by Elie Wiesel is separated from him mother and sister during his time in the concentration camps.
Hitler and his Nazis were not the only ones accountable for the death of six million Jews, bystanders are also responsible. This is one of the themes explored in the memoir, Night by Eliezer Wiesel, which tells of the horrific experiences he went through as a Jew during the Holocaust. He does this by sharing his struggles Wiesel hopes to encourage his audience by recounting the lessons he learned during the darkest days of his life to avoid being bystanders by observing, speaking out, and not conforming. In a situation where your body is surviving on a thread, your stomach is inflated due to starvation and all the strength you had before is gone, you have to rely on mental and religious strength to carry you through your hardships. Throughout the story Elie pushes through losing his mother and sister, lashings, seeing babies burned alive and the fear of death but also the hope for it in some situations. No amount of physical strength can help someone survive in the brutal place Auschwitz. Everywhere in the story Elie and other characters show that with mental and religious/spiritual strength, you can push through any hardship you have to face.
Victim of Isis are experiencing death, suffering, and with no hope in sight. But the horrific events was not happening in the middle east during present times, but during world war II in Germany. In the book Night, Elie Wiesel explains his experiences during the holocaust. Elie Wiesel wrote this book so he can inform people who weren’t there or didn’t know what happened to prevent this from happening again. Elie Wiesel assert this by show loss of faith, brutality and suffering Elie Wiesel, for a period of time of his life, experienced many things witnessing many deaths and malnourishment for years.
One way authors show their understanding of the impact bearing witness has on others is by preserving history. By doing this, Alexander Kimel, Primo Levi, and Elie Wiesel raise awareness about events from the Holocaust that could go ignored and ultimately forgotten. The first way an author shows this is in The Action in the Ghetto of Rohatyn, March 1942. In this poem, The author struggles to understand and remember what happened while he was placed in the Ghetto of Rohatyn. He soon realizes the responsibility of bearing witness, and that even if it is difficult, he is obligated to remember, so that he can preserve history, “And a long tortuous journey into an unnamed place / Converting living souls, into ashes and gas.
Elie’s spiritual and emotional journey during his transformation throughout the Holocaust made him a stronger person. During his time at the concentration camp, Elie started losing faith in God, family, and humanity which gave him challenges on his spiritual and emotional journey. On page 34, Elie was thinking, “Why should I sanctify His name? The Almighty, the eternal and terrible Master of the Universe, chose to be silent.
The human condition is a very malleable idea that is constantly changing due to the current state of mankind. In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, the concept of the human condition is displayed in the worst sense of the concept, during the Holocaust of WWII. During this time, multiple groups of people, most notably European Jews, were persecuted against and sent to horrible hard labor and killing centers such as Auschwitz. In this memoir, Wiesel uses complex figurative language such as similes and metaphors to display the theme that a person’s state as a human, both at a physical and emotional level, can be altered to extreme lengths, and even taken away from them, under the most extreme conditions.
