Interests in math and science. Mr Hyde had developed a potion that allowed him to turn into Dr. Jekyll. Jekyll found a way to separate his good side from his darker side, by transforming himself into a monster free of consciences. But he later found that he was turning into more and more into Mr Hyde. He started turning into Mr. Hyde in random places, the transformations got worse and worse.
Beowulf the epic poem and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde both have some sort of way of portraying evil in our english literature beowulf “the hero” was created some time in the 7th and 8th century by an unknown anglo saxon poet. Beowulf background info. States “comes from the OLD ENGLISH or ANGLO-SAXON Literary and Historical period of what was then ancient Britannia. This period of Old English extends from about 450 to 066, the year of the Norman-French conquest of England led by William of Normandy or known as William the Conqueror.” According to About Education “Beowulf may have been composed as an elegy for a king who died in the seventh century, but there is little evidence to indicate whom that king may have been.”
Another version I found was Hyde and Go Tweet. Just like in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll is included in this episode as himself and as Mr. Hyde. We first see him secretly enter his lab and drink the Hyde Potion, and then turn into Mr. Hyde just moments later. Sylvester is scared out of his sleep from the disgusting noises Mr. Hyde makes, but is unaware of the change since Dr. Jekyll returns almost instantly to his regular self. This simply sets the theme of good vs. evil and having a second ego just like in the original story.
I chose to draw my project digitally, because it is what I am accustomed to using, as well as, a great way to make illustrations without using paper. Since I am creating an illustration of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I wanted to portray the duality of human nature that the story highlights between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I drew Mr. Hyde as an evil and looming figure behind Dr. Jekyll to signify Dr. Jekyll's uncontrollable and dark natures that Mr. Hyde represents. I also included my portrayal of Dr. Jekyll with a petrified expression symbolizing his conflicted moral nature. The smoke surrounding Dr. Jekyll represents his corruption by his opposing counterpart, Mr. Hyde.
A religion that is dualistic admits not only that the universe comprises good and vil, or light and darkness, but also that though these are eternally opposed they are coeternal, coexistent, and equipotent. Is just like good or evil evey one noice that a person has a good side but at the same time they may have a dark side to. But ne of the most interesting things about Jekyll's transformation is its psychological aspect. Hyde is portrayed as an evil-looking dwarfed man with a violent temper, while Jekyll is a respected man of science, good-natured and leader of his circle of friends.
Other two themes characteristic of gothic romance are mystery and suspense, that we intend to analyse in the following points. These themes are present in The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The story evolves around those two themes. For example, a mystery surrounds Dr Jekyll’s voice. His workers are astonished at his voice change.
I found it very interesting to see the ties between The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and both our previous discussions on cultural hybridity, and more specifically the Cohen monster theory. As we talked about in class Dr Jekyll seems to struggle coming to terms with the duality of human nurture. He becomes infatuated with the idea that he can separate the good and evil parts of himself, and thus escape the societal pressure to suppress the evil parts of oneself. By creating an alter ego, he can live peacefully most of the time, only embracing the good parts of himself and thus he fits into societies expectations of how one should act. However in this attempt to filter out all the evil he creates a second self that fully embraces
Agreeing with you, I also find this novel very attractive! In addition, I hold the same idea that every person has his/ her good side and evil side and like most people, we are trying our best to hide the bad side of us and only exhibit the good side. However, through Dr Jekyll, a perfect individual and Mr Hyde, the representative of evil, we can tell that it is extremely hard to balance the two opposite elements and there is no way to erase any of them. I also appreciate how you connect this novel with the history background for the readers to better understand the deeper meaning. One grammar correction you might make is to add three commas separately after the words “Firstly”, “Personally” and “Hyde” in the sentences: “Firstly I have to admit
Many have heard of good and evil personalities, but never with having separate identities. Homes are a true reflection of one's mind, style, and how they choose to live their life. In the case of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde, we understand the lifestyle one has to live during the Victorian Era. Social values throughout were creating a world in which people felt forced to choose between respect from others and their true personality traits. Dr. Jekyll, living on the higher end of the social class, cared very much about his reputation and the judgment from others, including his home.
The Novel The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde takes place in London in the late 1800s. The atmosphere is dark and mysterious. Many of the scenes take place at night on shadowy streets in the Soho section of London or in the daytime in heavy fog. The novel begins on a London street that proves to act as central to much of the novel's action. The descriptions of the city vary, from idyllic and majestic to dangerous, mysterious and dark.
Although Dr. Jekyll is a respected doctor, he has always secretly engaged in corrupt behavior. His darker side per se. Dr. Jekyll found his darker side to be a burden and starts to experiment to try to separate his good side and evil side. Through the experiments is how Mr. Hyde becomes about.
To conclude with, I want to mention something I read in these days in the Oxford Dictionaries Blog. There are all sort of topics, and the other day I typed “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. What I found was four little articles, one of them, called ‘7 language facts you didn’t know about Robert Louis Stevenson’, seemed the most interesting one. One of these 7 facts was that after the noun ‘lawyer’, the most used word, with 66 incidences was the word ‘hand’. It was also added that the scholar Richard Dury said that the hand is a key figure in the text because it could be interpreted as a manifestation of personality and identity.

This story mainly talks about the ugly side of that society, people were insane back then and they did things we would never agreed with any of those, story between Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde were a great example of that dark society. For Dr. Jekyll, a good known person, did a lot tremendous things on science, his kindness was praised all over London, however, he didn't get a chance to express the negative emotions of his life, he feels that he might need something sort of medicine to make him become an evil person that may allow him to not to be such a nice person and do express those negative things. Like people now going boxing all the time to do that, but instead, a scientist wants to do that in a scientific way. Mr. Hyde, such an evil person,
