Living in a concentration camp wasn’t easy especially with the harsh living conditions faced by both Auschwitz and Dachau. Before they were put in concentration camps they were put in small ghettos. Ghettos are enclosed areas in a city or town, it is the method of segregating and imprisoning people in their own houses. This was mainly used to separate
There were multiple accounts of dehumanization of the Jews in Night by Elie Wiesel, and the vast majority of it came from the Nazis. The most basic of human rights were deprived of the Jewish people throughout all of Night. Jews in the book were not being treated humanely at all; the Nazis treated the Jews like they were animals. For example, in Night it was mentioned that the Jews were given tattoos to identify them, which is just how a farmer would treat cattle. The Jews also has little to no rights what so ever while being in captivity by the Nazis. "
During the Holocaust Jews were put through horrific things you can’t even imagine would happen to another human being. Jews lives were completely changed, they had gone from happy with their family to families torn apart within a few days. The prisoners wondered how long they were going to live. They had never known what day was going to be their last. The Holocaust is a very significant event in history because of how horrible Jews lived their lives back then and where they lived their lives during that period of time.
The Holocaust is one of the if not the most cruel punishment for a single race in recorded human history. No one can truly understand the hardships that a man or woman had to go through to survive it. Society is continuously pretending to understand the pain that people similar to Eliezer had to go through. It is impossible to understand the horror of the Holocaust but in the novel Night by Elie Wiesel through the change of language it makes it a bit more realistic the effect the Holocaust has on a person. The form of medium Elie Wiesel uses helps the reader understand through a bias the day to day Eliezer had to suffer through.
The novel Night by “Ellie Wiesel” is a survivor 's story of his experiences in the Holocaust. It covers his life before and during the concentration camps. In these times the path was not always straight and the overwhelming circumstances caused people to make decisions that were rushed or insensible. People got caught up in disbelief and chose not to take action where action would have saved their lives. These opportunities presented were missed or brushed aside and caused the death of thousands of people.
Night by Elie Wiesel describes his experiences as a Jew in the concentration camps during World War II. During this time, Wiesel witnessed many horrific acts. Two of these were executions. Though the processes, of the executions were similar, the condemned and the Jews’ reactions to the execution were different.
Buchenwald affected the Holocaust because it was setup to hurt people, the living conditions were harsh, and many people died. Buchenwald concentration camp was set up to work people to death. The goal was not to kill people, but rather have them work so hard that they would die. Buchenwald was given its name by Heinrich Himmler on
Another theme that is consistent in the novel is dehumanization. The SS officers continuously treat the Jews in the concentration camps atrociously. They don 't feed then correctly, they beat or shoot them because they were given the opportunity, and forcing the Jews to work for close to endless hours. This is presented on page 37 and 38. "
“ You don 't need religion to have morals. If you can 't determine right from wrong, then you lack empathy not religion. ”- unknown. Night by Elie Wiesel, during World War II, in Germany and Poland, Jewish people taken to concentration camps and forced to do labor.
I have always respected and explored the terrible events of ‘The Holocaust’. After reading Elie Wiesel bibliography, “The Night” I was horrified that he experienced those traumatic events, at the age of 12 and just because he was a Jew. Back when I was twelve, I just started high school and yet I had no information or understanding of ‘Holocaust’. Since reading Elie Wiesel’s book, I still don’t understand why humans could be so wicked, immoral and evil to another human being? The killing of innocent Jews, just because of their beliefs isn’t acceptable, it’s pure evil.
The conditions in the boxcars that Jews rode into concentration camps is hard to imagine. When the nazis wanted to transport loads of Jews to concentration camps, they didn 't know how to do it, their solution was old boxcars. They took old, beat up boxcars and jammed hundreds of Jews in there with nothing to survive. This was the start of the US being involved in another war, but not soon enough. The fact that any Jewish people survived is crazy, and here 's why.
The incident I chose to represent was at the beginning of Night when Moishe the Beadle tells the story the first group of prisoners being taken to the woods by the Nazis to dig their own graves and how babies were thrown into the air and used for target practice. This incident brings tears to my eyes knowing how horrible this must have been for the victims. This incident just leads into how horrible the Nazis treat their prisoners throughout the novel. The Nazis were horrible people and this incident really showed how bad they truly were. The Nazis had no true care for anyone, but themselves, which is most likely why they didn’t care what they did to others.
Nazi concentration camps and Japanese internment camps aren’t the same because of how they got treated in the camps. First, in concentration camps, Jews were starved. Nazi camps starved the Jews until they were considered “human skeletons” and could not even walk. Second, some Jews had to fall from great heights for a job. A job for Jews was sometimes to fall from high places so the SS could see how high somebody could be dropped until they broke a bone.
You can get mood from settings and themes of a novel. Since, a setting tells you the placement and time period of the novel it may give you a certain feeling. Also, with theme it is an opinion of that novel which the author tries to portray ; these opinions make you feel a certain way. For example, in the novel Night the setting is during the Holocaust in Germany, mass slaughter of jews, which was a very sad time . So, the mood of this book may be very sad because of the setting during Holocaust.
There is a set time frame between life and death. Once the line is crossed, there is no return. This is why Elie Wiesel feels it is so important to bear witness. Bearing witness is to be a constant observer, to consider all possibilities, and to act when it is time. Elie Wiesel wrote his memoir Night so people could learn to act when it is necessary.
