The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was written by Mark Haddon. Haddon's fiction novel was based on a fifteen year old boy named Christopher Boone. Christopher never thought bad things would happen in his little home town of Swindon, England until now. Boone was on the hunt to find the person responsible for Mrs. Shears dog, Wellington's death. As Christopher starts to unravel some secrets, his father tells him to stop the search. Come to find out, Christopher's father, who he trusted very much, was having an affair with Mrs. Shears due to the affair his supposedly dead mother and Mr. Shears were having. Major plot twist right? Christopher then found letters his mother had wrote him but he never received. After feelings of guilt
Imagine a rock. A little rock. With speckles of gold and silver. There are two lenses to peer through. A scientific, logical lens tells us the natural processes, the distribution of gold and silver in the ground, the pressure of the sediment above, which all combined to create the rock.
This confession shattered Christopher's trust in his father, and he feared for his safety. As a result, he decided to leave the house. The chapter states, "Father had murdered Wellington. That meant he could murder me, because I couldn't trust him, even though he had said, 'Trust me,' because he had told a lie about a big thing" (167.30). Christopher's decision to leave demonstrates how his perspective has changed as a result of this event.

The characterization of Christopher is seen when he states: “Then I stopped reading the letter because I felt sick. Mother had not had a heart attack… And father had lied about this” (Haddon 112). In this scene, Christopher’s trust in his father is broken as he finds out his father lied about his mother's death, which causes Christopher to feel a wide range of emotions including shock, betrayal, and upsetness. These emotions characterize Christopher because they show how his character has changed over the course of the story from being seen as out of touch with his emotions and insensitive to events that would cause emotional trauma to others.

I really enjoyed reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time because it is a story that doesn’t often get told. For the most part, we know surface level details about special needs individuals, they attend the same schools as us, they work among us, but in many ways their world is completely separate from our own reality, and more often than not is a silent one. The Curious Incident provides a different outlook on these individuals, it forces the audience to feel, and empathize with Christopher rather than detach ourselves through facts and information. Not only was the play in some ways ground breaking, but there was also good humor and also made Christopher’s story have normalcy to it as well. I believe that sometimes we tend

The novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is full of many important events, but the one that really got me thinking and stood out to me the most is when Christopher runs away from his father’s house and goes to London. When Christopher was frightened because of his father, he worked up the nerve to leave and take a train to London. The trip to London was very scary and stressful for Christopher, he had to face and deal with many of his fears. For example, he had to talk to strangers, be in tight places with lots of people and he had to listen to the loud screeching of the trains leaving and arriving at the station. Eventually, Christopher arrived in London and got to see his mother who he thought had passed away for the
