The French and Indian War, or the Seven Years War, began in 1754, as a result of conflict over territory and trade in North America. As both countries conquered the new land, letting their civilians settle there as colonists with the sole purpose of providing money for their homeland, they encountered the Ohio Valley; land that was assured to contribute to each of their imperialist motives. During the war where French troops allied with the native Americans against Britain, the laws given to the British colonies were left unmonitored, and the colonists evaded the strict taxation and rules against trading with other countries. However, when the war ended in 1763, resulting in a British victory, Britain was left a multitude of problems. This included the great national debt of approximately 122 million British pounds. Thus, they began to focus on how the colonists would contribute to pay off that debt. By
The French were looking to expand their land at a place called the Ohio River Valley, so they would have more land for their people. The French threatened to take the land the British had already claimed. Numerous battles broke out between them, which lead to a war. William Pitt, the new British leader, managed to get more colonies to fight for the British. Britain's power grew significantly in numbers of soldiers, thus making the British a rising empire. The war was fought for seven years before a peace treaty was signed in 1763 causing the war to end. The death toll was over 11,000 on each side in this
The American and French revolutions are similar in some ways but different in others. Both of the revolutions were liberating, but the French revolution was more violent and bloodier than the American. As to the American revolution was more conservative and federal.
The French and Indian War occurred mainly on American soil in the 18th century. In the war, British American and New France fought, with heavy involvement from Native American allies, over regions in the New World, such as the Ohio River Valley. Britain ultimately won the war after capturing the city of Quebec. As a result of the war, the Treaty of Paris was signed, leading to France losing all most its North American possessions east of the Mississippi. France was also required to hand over French Louisiana to Spain. Since France lost almost all of its territorial claims in the western hemisphere, Great Britain’s position as the dominant power in North America was confirmed. After the Treaty of Paris was signed, King George III officiated the Proclamation of 1763, which blocked the colonists from expanded westward. The proclamation gave the British total power over American land. Britain gained the territory of New France and French Canada. The French and Indian War placed Britain into a large debt, which Britain dealt with by heavily taxing the colonists. As stated by Jessie Palmer, “The French and Indian War was very essential to the American Revolution because the war debt was the reason that Parliament started imposing taxes on the colonists in the first place” (Palmer). These taxes made the colonists resent the crown. France’s role prior battles
The french and Indian war alter the political and ideological relations between Great Britain and the american colonies in many different ways. The war enable Britain to be more involved with colonial political and economic affairs. After the war Britain also ended their policy of salutary neglect. After a while their plan to make money of the colonies soon lead to the revolutionary war because it increased tension and outrage among the american colonies.
The American and French Revolution are both remembered in history as two major changes that would shape what we know today. Every child learns of the American Revolution at least once in their lives. Both these revolutions had the similar cause, effects, and stages that resulted or started them. Just like in every warring country, it is inevitable that there will be some change that occurs whether it be for the better or for worse. Although the American and French revolutions were very similar in the actions, there were many differences leading them into ultimately different paths and states of rest.
The French and Indian war, also known as the Seven Years’ war, was fought between France and Great Britain. It started because of French expansion into the Ohio Valley. This expansion created conflict
The War of 1812 was a conflict between the United States of America and Britain. It lasted between 1812 and 1815. Since 1796, France and Britain had been continuously fighting. The United States, rather than take sides, continued to trade with both countries. However, this did not make either France or Britain very happy. The United States was divided between whether to side with Britain or France. Many Americans wanted to side with the French, but others, including Alexander Hamilton, wanted to annul the alliance the United States had made with France, and side with Great Britain. George Washington, however, decided that it would be best to remain neutral, and therefore issued the Proclamation of Neutrality on April 22, 1793. The War of 1812
The French and Indian war (1754-63) resulted in political, economic and ideological relations between British and its American colonies.
The Seven Years’ War in the American colonies was caused by constant, violent encounters between England and France. The conflicts eventually reached the British American colonies and the war lasted in the colonies from 1754-1763. When the war came to a close, the British Empire began to increase their presence in the American colonies. Also, as a result of the war with France, the British was crippled with war debt. To help pay for the cost of the Seven Years’ War, taxes was increased in the American colonies. The rapid deviations in the colonists’ lives began to create tension between the Empire and colonies. These unforeseen consequences of the Seven Years’ War altered the political relations, independence, and ultimately the loyalty of the American colonist.
The French and Indian War altered the relations of the American Colonies and Britain through political, economic, and geographical issues.
This began in the spring of 1754. However, France and Britain did not officially declare the war until later in May 1756. The war was two-sided. On one side were the British and American colonists while on the other hand was the French and the broad network of Native American allies. The inclusion of Indians in this war is because the majority of Native Americans are the Indians. The primary cause of this war was that France and England had claimed the same territory in North America. This war is thought to be paramount because it marked a new beginning of independent thinking among between the colonies. The war ended in 1763 after a period of nine years.
The French and Indian war was the final colonial war and it to place from 1689 to 1763. It was the last of four American wars. This war altered the political, economic, and ideological relations between British and the French. During this time each country fought for control of the continent with the help of the Native Americans and colonial allies. Britain and American colonies were defeated even though Britain had already won all the land (Document 1).
Similarly, thirteen years later when the French peasantry revolted against the French monarchy and aristocracy Price once more offered his political and moral support to the repressed citizens of the French political system. Just like the Americans in the previous decade, he believed that the revolutionaries may have been poorly armed and desperately hungry, but they carried with them a justification for their action that was based on morality and ethics which can be traced in Price's early theological writings. If there is such a thing as a 'good' revolution then both the American and French revolutions were just that. Thankfully Price didn't live to see the French model descend into the tyranny which would have had a profound effect on him.
