I think Theodore Roosevelt did not set the country on an unsustainable path to ruin. It’s extremely hard to predict the future on something like what a country will turn into. Theodore Roosevelt probably didn't think about the future consequences of his decisions. I don’t blame him for that he probably thought he was doing the right thing. We can’t blame someone who’s been dead for 97 for the current economic problems.
As a history buff, having dinner with an influential character in American History is more like a dream rather than a hypothetical question. There are so many greats and personal favorites in our history to choose from like Harper Lee, Abraham Lincoln, or Thomas Paine. Although, when I consider only choosing one American figure to have dinner with and engage in conversation about current issues, one man stands out to me: Theodore Roosevelt. Like it is talking about young elie, he is thanking the president for what they are doing, and it is talking about indifference. Theodore Roosevelt is credited with saying “Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering”. History plays a big role for our everyday life, in that we don’t know what the future may bring, but we certainly know what happened in the past. We’re able to look back, and reflect on the hardships of people in their life, and understand the struggles that they went through. To me, the chance to be able to look back in time and see that people my age would have been working in hard labor, or be sent off to fight in a war, or be a servant of some kind, is eye opening.

Theodore Roosevelt uses logos throughout his speech. He uses it to show that he knows what he is doing and using his intelligence to convey that he is the right person to lead the United States. When he says, “Upon the success of our experiment much depends, not only as regards our own welfare, but as regards the welfare of mankind,” it makes us think and feel that he knows what he is talking about, reassuring why he will be a good president. However, men lacked manners and morality. Due to the very questionable propriety of men, Roosevelt was driven to address how men should act the way a real mature man would in order to further improve society. By using rhetorical strategies such as repetition, Christian appeal, and a serious tone, Roosevelt is able to show his audience how strength and decency go hand in hand.

WWII threatened world peace and the Great Depression was actively wearing the U.S. away. Few other times in U.S history required someone of FDR's caliber to lead America through such a storm.
