Compare Booker T. vs. W.E.B Du Bois Even though Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Du Bois, wanted to achieve the same goal they did it in drastically different ways. One wanted to do it with violence while the other wanted to do it with peacefulness. They both got to the goals just in different ways, there is still racism today. I will be going back into the 1800’s and 1900’s, back to Booker T. and W.E.B Du Bois. Both of these men made goods decision in U.S history. They both wanted to do great things for African Americans, they both wanted to achieve the same goal which was to eliminate discrimination and racism. Booker T. and W.E.B wanted good things for African Americans, like eliminate racism and discrimination Booker T. Washington was born a slave on a Virginia farm in Washington, he wanted everyone to accept discrimination and racism as well as to continue discrimination,so that African Americans to focus on self-economic improvement. What he believed was if African Americans kept disobeying the whites that there would be more anti-black violence such as lynching. and W.E.B Du Bois wanted to achieve the same goal but just in drastically different ways. Booker T.’s strategies were very peaceful towards the community and everyone in it. Then he wanted everything to be peaceful because he wanted African Americans to gain self-economic improvement so they could move forward. He believed that discrimination and racism were very acceptable temporarily. He also encouraged blacks to “dignify and glorify common labor” as well as having separate rights from whites. He also believed that fighting for equality would only lead to violence and even more lynching. W.E.B on the other hand argued if African Americans do not have the right to vote and get an education they could not be U.S citizens because they have no rights which means that they would not be equal to white
