THE PROCESS OF MAKING GOOD ETHICAL DECISIONS
A. Decision Process In Individuals - Decision making can be regarded as a mental process or cognitive process resulting in the selection of an action from among different alternatives. Every decision making process gives out a final choice. The output of the decision making process can be an action or an option of choices. Decision making process involves the following steps:
1. Define the problem - The first step in decision making is to find out the correct problem. The accurate definition of the problem affects all the steps that follow. If the problem is inaccurately defined, every step in the decision-making process will be based on an incorrect starting point. We should find out what is causing the trouble and what will be its possible solution. If the problem is not properly defined then the efforts and the money spent on a wrong decision will go waste.
2. Analysis of the problem - After defining the problem the next step is to analyze the problem by collecting all possible information about it and then decide whether it will sufficient to take a decision or not.

Ethical issue intensity - First step in ethical decision making is to recognize that an ethical issue requires an individual or work group to choose among several actions that various stakeholders inside or outside of the firm will ultimately evaluate as right or wrong. You would look at how the various departments might receive a new central ordering system and how costly the new system would be relative to improving each of these individual systems. 1. Analysis In the analysis phase, identified requirements of the system will be gathered. You want to conduct an examination on a specific problem that is being addressed or expectations of a particular system that has been told by a client.
One is to “articulate the research problem and objectives”. Two is to “develop the overall research plan”. Three is to “collect the data or information”. Four is to “analyze the data or information”. Five is to “present or disseminate the findings”.
A moral decision is a choice made based on a person’s ethics, beliefs, character, values and judgement. If a store clerk gives you too much change after you purchase something, do you tell them? If your two best friends are in trouble and you can only save one, who do you help? Whether in your regular everyday life, or in extreme and unfortunate circumstances, moral decisions occur often and challenge what you believe in and stand for as a person.
The hardest part during ethical issue is identifying the causes as they will lead to other personnel not enforcing the standars and identify those who are not stweards of the profession. Two retired
Kerridge et.al (2009), developed an ethical decision making model made up of seven steps to guide a social worker to identify both ethical issues and to evaluate the values of the identified issues (Kerridge et.al, 2009). This model is applied to the three options that are elaborated and illustrated in Appendix’s B. C. and D. The first step in the model is to ‘clearly state the problem’ which is the argument of self-determination and own wishes versus Sophie’s mother’s wishes and the law. This elicits questions such as ‘Is a sixteen year old girl mature enough to make the decision of termination?’

Morality is a set of values held by a person in making when judging and evaluating what is deemed right or wrong, good or bad (Brandt, 1959). When we talk about morality in counseling it’s about the reasoning by the counselor that has four levels. A decision is the thought process of choosing between two or more outcomes that may or may not have a great impact. When thoroughly pondered, living life is fundamentally based on making the best decisions. Whether or not they are great or small decision making is critical. Often times, it is the smallest decisions one can make that impact the even bigger decisions later to come. Starting from the time people wake up in the morning, the will be surrounded by the most basic decisions until they go to sleep that night.
The film Do the Right Thing, composed, coordinated and delivered by Spike Lee, concentrates on a solitary day of the lives of racially different individuals who live and work in a lower class neighborhood in Brooklyn New York. Be that as it may, this conventional day happens on one of the most sweltering days of the mid year. Information is first received to identify all possible response to a dilemma. An individual recognizes and examines whether the choices are unethical or not and then evaluate the possible benefits to be gained and the possible costs to be paid. Ethical dilemma arises when there is conflict between personal ethics and social ethics. For instance, ethical dilemma exists in situations that a wrong decision is likely to produce a positive outcome or that a right decision is likely to produce a negative outcome (Fletcher, n.d.). Ethical decision-making can only be justified in the notion that the individual is ethically sensitive and rational because a person is unable to acknowledge the responsibility of certain behaviors without awareness of morality and
WORKPLACE DECISION MAKING- MY REFLECTION 'S Dealing with ambiguity comes naturally to us humans, and it starts with learning our first language as an infant. The effective decision making is an iterative learning process acquired by relying on experiences from our own past reflexes and also learning from those of others. The past couple of years presented an interesting mix of challenges in my workplace, including complex projects with tight deadlines, budget cuts and building out teams at short notice later. One such project involved automation of calculations for economic risk capital, which is a loss buffer maintained by banks.
Ethical decision-making process are influenced by both individual and environmental characteristics, as well as an interaction with the cognitive process (Cooper, 2012). For every public official whose loyalty is to himself, his organization, and the public, the ethical decision-making process is dynamic, it is not constant, it involves a process of recognizing the problem and moving through the course of action towards finding a possible solution. It is contingent upon several factors. There is no one-size-fits-all for every situation, but the course of action is determined by the individual and environmental factors involved and the ethical character the public official has built over time. Ethical Decision Making
However, as we discussed in class, there are so many situations where ethical decision-making occurs, and there are so many factors that influence why we do what we do. Because we work with a multitude people with interesting and diverse lives and backgrounds, and because we come in with our own baggage and experiences that influence how we act and react, we make split-second decisions all the time that can have profound effects on our work and our consumers. Having so many opportunities to look at my own actions, this particular assignment has been so rewarding and interesting for me. This is the first time in any of my assignments where I have been forced to look at how ethics is involved in our
