People rely on technology. Technology has become so necessary in the daily lives of individuals such that their entire course depend and revolve around it. However, becoming too reliant on electronics lead to one’s downfall. Similarly, in Bradbury's novel, Fahrenheit 451, people willingly isolate themselves in their fantasies due to such devices. Thus, the limitations of technology and the minimization of human innovation and communication become apparent. The images on the TV screens influence and captivate human mind and nature, complementary to the masses in Montag’s society because it suffices as an escape from the world, a sweet, ignorant paradise from the harsh reality of life, as well as a threat to education and humane interaction. …show more content…

For example, Montag’s wife, Mildred, retreats away from the multitude and society by shifting all her attention to three tv parlors, further attempting to “save up and get a fourth wall torn out and a fourth wall-TV put in (Bradbury 18).” All the inhabitants in their society watch television because the simple act of watching moving images on a screen keeps them from thinking. Mildred is distracted and estranged from her dissatisfied life and Montag due to her excessive involvement of technology. It is her way of escape from the ugly truth that’s encompassed within her and electronics allows Mildred to strengthen her cowardice towards her unhappy reality. In the end, Mildred is carefree of her worries because she instead continues to watch her “parlor family” than truly embrace reality or humanistic values. People spend countless hours on the Internet or in front of the TV, hoping their troubles will go away. In other words, individuals endorse and dedicate time to their virtual worlds because there is a lack of failure in it. Everything in the digital world designed to satisfy the needs of the viewer acts as a break from reality, seeing as how people act complacent and acclamatory after a session of their, say, favorite tv show or the like.
