In the play of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet kill themselves for each other’s love. But who is the fault of their death? Friar Laurence is the blame for their suicide. Friar Laurence is the blame for Romeo and Juliet’s suicide because he first married Romeo and Juliet secretly, he didn’t send the letter about the plan to Romeo himself, and he didn’t get to the tomb early enough to rescue Juliet. The first reason that Friar Laurence is the blame for Romeo and Juliet’s suicide is that he married them secretly. “Thy love did read by rote, that could not spell. But come, young waverer, come go with me. In one respect I’ll thy assistant be; For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancor to pure love.”(2.3.88-92). Friar Laurence is saying he would marry him and Juliet. He thinks that both households are going to get along after Romeo and Juliet are married. He has to keep the marriage private because later on in the play, Lord Capulet forces the marriage between Paris and Juliet and he didn’t want anyone knowing that he is marrying Juliet twice especially with Romeo who had killed Tybalt. …show more content…

This is Friar Laurence’s fault because he should of delivered the message himself so he knows for a fact that Romeo has gotten the letter and understood the plan that was going to happen.
