Alexander Hamilton i. Alexander Hamilton was born in 1755 and became one of the leading founding fathers of the United States. He was a strong opinioned federalist. ii. Alexander also became the first Secretary of the Treasury. While being the secretary of the Treasury he wanted to assume states debts into a federal system of tax in order to help get the newly independent country out of debt. iii. Alexander Hamilton was also the man to create the first national bank system. He believed that banks were needed to stimulate the economy. He suggested that the bank had a credit of $10 million and the ability is issue paper money. The cotton gin was one of the first inventions during the American Industrial Revolution which caused it to be the inspiration of more inventions and need for constantly having the improvement and increased efficiency. Telegraph/Morse Code i. The Telegraph/Morse code was invented in the 1830s-1840s by Samuel Morse. The inventions were used to communicate over long distances by transmitting electrical signals through a wire. ii. Morse Code was a series of dots and dashes related to the alphabet. Only a couple of assigned people in certain stations in each town could decipher Morse code which provided jobs. The first telegraph was sent to Maryland from Washington in1844 and by 1866, Morse code could travel across the Atlantic to Europe. iii. Thanks to the telegraph, people now could communicate about what was being delivered to their factories and stores. The communication between a business and the supplier was important because it let the suppliers tell the manufacture/merchant that their goods were coming which helped modernize businesses. iv. The Telegraph helped improved the lives of the Americans citizens as it gave them the ability to communicate with other family members across the country.
