At only age thirteen, couples can not know what true love feels like, especially when they have only known eachother for a couple days. Throughout the play Romeo and Juliet, the so called “star-crossed lovers’” act foolish, rushing into a marriage and not thinking about the possible consequences that might happen to such a controversial relationship because of their feuding families. Ultimately, the rash decisions lead to the deaths of not only Romeo and Juliet, but along with Paris and Mercutio. Romeo and Juliet's’ rashness to get married and kill themselves along with Friar Lawrence’s hastiness to marry the lovers despite his beliefs, make a dangerous potion, and fail to deliver the letter to Romeo, all play a major role in the tragedy. …show more content…
Alarmed that she is preparing to kill herself, the Friar rushes to make a perilous potion. This was a bad idea since Romeo was uninformed and does not receive the letter from Friar John. Sending Friar John to deliver the letter by himself is a rash decision, when he should remember as Brian Gibbons points out that, “the rule of the Franciscan order forbade Friar John to travel without the company of another Friar.” If Friar Lawrence had simply gotten someone to accompany Friar John, the letter would get to Romeo, changing the end of the play's tragedy …show more content…
If they would have never made the two get married, Friar Lawrence would never give Juliet the dangerous potion, therefore the two lovers’ would still be alive and happy.
Another act of hastiness is the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio. If Mercutio would have let things go, two lives would have been saved. Along with that, Romeo would have not killed Tybalt so would have never been banished from the city. If he had never been banished, it would be easier to communicate with Friar Lawrence and may in fact received the letter on time.
“It is too rash, too unadvis'd, too sudden."(2.2.118) Juliet's words reflect herself and the play as a whole. Throughout Romeo and Juliet the theme hastiness is shown in all the characters at least once. Between the lying and scheming, the lovers’ are the most obvious characters containing hastiness by getting secretly married and killing themselves irrationally. Friar Lawrence also contributed by marrying the lovers, giving the potion to Juliet, and failing to deliver the letter to Romeo. Juliet’s parents also contribute because of the rushed marriage of Paris and Juliet. In addition, Tybalt and Mercutio’s violence also are rash. In conclusion, all the characters in some form or another ultimately play a major role in the
Friar Lawrence is to blame because he trusted Juliet with a potion, he trusted someone else to bring a very important message to Romeo and he overall
Lastly, Friar Lawrence walked away from Juliet when Juliet needed him, this resulted in Juliet killing herself. He was only caring about himself and didn't want to be reprimanded. Only if he had waited longer Juliet would not have killed herself adding to the tragedy. This is seen at the end of the play when Friar Lawrence says, “Stay not to question, for the watch is coming. Come, go, good Juliet.
Firstly, he willingly agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet despite their families' feuding and them still being young. Secondly, he agrees to marry Juliet and Paris, complicating the situation and worsening conflicts. Finally, he suggests the misguided plan of faking Juliet's death, which results in a miscommunication and Romeo's tragic decision to end his life. Friar Lawrence bears significant responsibility for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet due to his irresponsible and ill-advised decisions. Their story serves as a reminder of how misguided actions and decisions can have a profound impact, underscoring the importance of thoughtfulness and wisdom when faced with complex
He says “ Who bare my letter, then, to Romeo? Friar John: I could not send it,-her it is again-... Friar Lawrence: Unhappy fortune! By my brotherhood, the letter was not ice but full of charge od dear import, and the neglecting it may do much danger…” (DBQ project: who is to blame, document E). As Friar Lawrence find out that Friar John does not send this message he fears that bad things will happen.
Love. Catastrophe. Death. In this play, two teenagers fall in love in the matter of hours. Their love is forbidden because of a rancor between their families.
In William Shakespeares play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is the reason of Romeo and Juliet's death. The first fault Friar Lawrence executes, is to marry the two characters without their parent's consent, right after Romeo had just loved his perfect Rosaline. Without thinking about the situation the friar foolishly agrees to marry Paris to Juliet even though he had just married her to Romeo. The worst mistake was giving Juliet a fatal sleeping potion. All of the actions combined ruined the young couples lives and resulted in their deaths.
In the world that we live in today, there are many things that we face daily. Whether it be illness, love or just bad decisions, everybody encounters them and many more. Rash decisions are made on a very common basis among people. A lot of stuff affect the decisions you make. May it be, being too young and not having enough experience to make good decisions, or just the lack of care of the outcome.
Age plays a significant role on decision-making not only in Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet but also in modern times. In the play, Romeo and Juliet are only young teenagers which influences on making childish and no-thought decisions. This is shown In Act 2 where Romeo is depressed because Rosaline, who he had confessed his love to has rejected him, and refuses to crash the Capulet’s party. It’s not until his friends Mercutio and Benvolio force him to go when he lays his eyes upon Juliet and proceeds to forget about his love and fall in love with Juliet instead.
Romeo and Juliet is a story of hasty decisions. The young couple must quickly decide to get married, how to act after Romeo is exiled, and whether or not to take their own lives. Many of these decisions are made under the guidance of the children’s mentors, Friar Laurence and the Nurse. Throughout this tragedy, Friar Laurence and the Nurse are the only adults that Romeo and Juliet seem to feel that they can trust and are in turn some of the main people that influence the outcome of the play. The Nurse and Friar Laurence play very similar roles, both in the play and the lives of the children, but the ways in which they advise and influence the children include more differences.
In the play Romeo and Juliet one of the main characters, Romeo, is a rather impulsive fellow who acts on what he sees and feels. He falls in love in the blink of an eye and just as fast he can get over it. He is always impulsive but when he finds himself in love his impulsiveness doubles. Romeo’s impulsive decisions causes his love, Juliet, to ultimately get killed.

No action is free of consequences, and the decisions made throughout an individuals life can make or break the following course of events.
“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves”, is a quote by the man himself, William Shakespeare, concerning human responsibility, otherwise known as the capability of completing an obligation, or duty sufficiently. These commitments or duties play a role in how a situation will play out, and dictate the consequences that follow. The choices made from the beginning to the end in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet are all examples of how people’s decisions, primarily those of Tybalt, Mercutio and Friar Lawrence, lead to a heartbreaking fallout. The pressure and burden weighing down the young lovers ultimately overwhelms them, causing an expeditious chain reaction. The influences behind each character’s ill-considered judgments,
Hasty Decisions Of Romeo and Juliet Decisions that we make can have some major consequences and cause conflict in our everyday life, but decisions made in literary stories could have major consequences and conflict as well. Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a great example of how hasty decisions can affect the characters and the story plot. Three decisions that impacted the plot of the story are made by Romeo and Juliet, who decide to get married in secret; Friar Laurence, who makes a potion that sends Juliet into a deep sleep; and Romeo, who kills himself because of a broken heart. In Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet decide to get married in secret.
Romeo and Juliet want to get married so Romeo goes to Friar Laurence. “Then plainly know my heart's dear love is set on the fair daughter of the rich Capulet (2.3.57-58).” Romeo and Juliet love each other a lot so they choose to get married without thinking of the consequences. Even some of the smarter people in Verona make huge mistakes. Even the friar who gives the advice doesn't think before he makes his decision.
Friar Lawrence was supposed to be a positive figure in Romeo and Juliet’s lives. He was a holy man, someone who was supposed to help get both of them through difficult decisions so they could remain on the right path. Instead, he aided them in making unreasonable and stupid decisions, like getting married without their families’ knowledge. He could have helped Romeo
