measured Shenzhen’s success from evidences that China has adopted the rules in Shenzhen as permanent policies then spread it to the rest of China. So here, I may say there is a big political risk for developing countries if they want to implement the Charter City as it is. Furthermore, I agree with Huntington (2000) saying that being modern means being able to think for ourselves. Thus, if the cities, either in Shenzhen or Hong Kong model, are only possible when developed country or the international

One of the main reasons for me to study art business is to encourage more people to interact with the art world, provide chances for more and more people in contact with art and let art be part of everyone's life. Like painting can be a way for me to release myself, I think a great artwork can also change individuals’ s attitude towards their lives. Also, I want to promote art investment to become the part of the consideration of investment financing in upper-class and middle-class families in China

For example, in 1998, the “sweeping out sex industry” campaign (shaohuang) in Shenzhen drove out thousands of prostitutes and bar girls, with them at least 10 billion yuan of saving deposits evaporated from local financial institutions within a few days. This gave an economic boon to the surrounding cities and forced the Shenzhen municipal government to water down its campaign. Largely to the credit of criminal groups, every year smuggling groups caused
practice because I really did enjoy playing basketball. When I entered 8th grade, there was a tournament amongst all the 8 districts in ShenZhen, the city in which I lived. I considered the tournament as a precious opportunity for me to prove my efforts. Nevertheless, in order to qualify to participate in this tournament, players had to be permanent residents in ShenZhen. My permanent residency was still in the previous province from where my mother came. The coach allowed me to practice with the team
What is Foxconn’s unethical issue? In mid 2010, Foxconn Technology Group (Foxconn) was facing a crisis of having its workers held protests and riots against the company in Shenzhen, China. Being the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer (Pun, 2010), the company exploited its migrant workers by providing them with exceptionally low pay and allowing unacceptable number of overtime working hours in the manufacturing site. Such method of raising workers’ efficiency is unethical in the eyes

In this article, Pavlenko opens his discussion by talking about overall choice, which is “the language choice or choices consciously made by the parents for daily communication with the child or children” (Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development 180). As one of the oldest industries in the world, prostitution used to be legal in China (Jin, 2005). After China was liberated, the government strictly banned prostitution yet it is still rampant nowadays. Scholars consider it as a city disease. The city needs large sum of migrant workers to develop, however, they don’t have sufficient economic ability to bring their families to cities and satisfy their sexual demand. Therefore, they became the major customers of this industry (Liang, 2012). This problem
Occupational health disparities exit on many jobs. Health disparities may be defined as differences in disease incidence, mental illness, or morbidity and mortality that exist among specific populations (CDC, 2012). The classification of vulnerability is determined by age, race, income, employment, etc. Immigrants fits the definition of being vulnerable because they are a racial minority, temporary workers and has cultural and language barriers. Their economical and political resource may put
E-cigarettes have been getting more and more popular over time, especially among younger adults. In Shenzhen, China they produce about 90% of (unregulated) the world’s e-cigarettes. They ship about 300 million e-cigarettes to the United States. In China, hundreds of manufacturers operate with little oversight, which experts say that sloppy manufacturing could be obligated to the heavy metals and other dangerous compounds found in the e-cigarettes. To make e-cigarettes they start off by turning
by many as the boisterous and charismatic Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus teacher, Mr. Kwon is well liked by the high school community. A replacement for the much missed Mrs. Jacus, he has previously taught math and chemistry at a Canadian school in Shenzhen for 3 years, before getting his master’s degree in Hong Kong this year. Mr. Kwon asserts that he became a math teacher because he genuinely enjoyed math, and “wanted to help struggling students who don’t understand the material.” He also claims
Very recently it was revealed that Boeing (NYSE:BA) had entered into a $4.3 billion deal with Shenzhen Airlines where the Beijing-based passenger carrier will purchase 46 737 models. This could potentially be a game changer for the American Airline manufacturer especially given how its European rival Airbus Group’s stock has offered investors better returns. Where Airbus stock has seen a rise of more than 37% since the beginning of the year, Boeing stock has only experienced an 8% appreciation.

Perhaps one of the most interesting things about the discipline of anthropology is that the subjects can share their thoughts and opinions in a clear articulate way. Interviews I had the opportunity to interview a young woman, my roommate, about her experiences migrating from China to the U.S. for her education. Whilst speaking with her, I came to two conclusions. Firstly, culture plays a significant role in how people view the value and the administration of education. Secondly, I came to the conclusion
