That started the summer he graduated from high school. He wanted ultimate freedom from individuals and society that led him not wanting to have any long-term intimacy relationships with the individuals he met throughout his journey.

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”, which is written by Mark Haddon, is a book that is told through the perspective of Christopher Boone, a young boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. Christopher is the narrarator of the story, and he had to go through many difficulties however overcoming each and every obstacle. Haddon portrays the character of Christopher very effectively, despite him not being autistic. This is the way Haddon has Christopher react to certain social situations, the way he has him focused on certain interests, as well as through the way he has him think on a much higher level than average people. These are just some of the examples of how well Haddon took on the role of creating an autistic teenager.
Throughout the book, it’s clear that Christopher’s father has not moved on from his ex-wife having an affair and abandoning them. Because of this grudge, his anger and frustration continue to grow into their home lives. For instance, “I had no memories for a short while . . . I was sitting on the carpet with my back against the wall and there was blood on my right hand and the side of my head was hurting.” (Haddon 37)
The Theme of Isolation Being alone and separated from others is usually not an enjoyable state. This state is called isolation. Character is the thing that defines a person. What you will do, what you will say, how you interact with the world. Admittedly, all of us have character. But, the character of Christopher is a very interesting and a complex one. In times, it feels as if he is an alien compared to everyone else.
On Wednesday August 9th at 8:00pm I attended the theatrical showing of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” directed by Marianne Elliott, playing at the Ahmanson theatre. In the play you see a world through the special eyes of Christopher. Being as smart and sharp as he is, he has absolutely zero social skills and a crippling vulnerability to sensory stimulation. The novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is full of many important events, but the one that really got me thinking and stood out to me the most is when Christopher runs away from his father’s house and goes to London. When Christopher was frightened because of his father, he worked up the nerve to leave and take a train to London. The trip to London was very scary and stressful for Christopher, he had to face and deal with many of his fears. For example, he had to talk to strangers, be in tight places with lots of people and he had to listen to the loud screeching of the trains leaving and arriving at the station. Eventually, Christopher arrived in London and got to see his mother who he thought had passed away for the

Christopher doesn’t like loud noises, there are a lot of loud noises in his life. This is very hard for him because he cant avoid it. Unlike his dislike for yellow food where he can avoid eating it. Also, him not knowing how to ride the subway by himself, which was hopefully just a one time thing, loud noises happen all the time and he can’t avoid them. So, covering his ears, he finds yet another way to overcome his obstacles.
