The most famous and influential letter by Abigail Adams was written on March 31st, 1776. Her letter opened by asking John to respond with on the status of his fleet, the defense of Virginia, and the Gentry Lords showing her knowledge on current topics that John was experiencing. After Abigail asked about John’s situation she began talking to herself which she does in many of her other letters. She wondered if liberty and the Christian principle of “treating others as you wish to be treated” (which she knew from her father) was reciprocated between different genders. She concluded that it is not which led into the next section where she propagated for women rights.
The Seneca Falls Declaration was a document for women that appealed to men. The only reason that it appealed to men was because it was modeled off of the Declaration of Independence. The Seneca Falls Declaration’s purpose was to get women rights. This Declaration matters because it was women coming together against their male counterparts to receive what the majority wanted, which was equal treatment from men (document 7). There were other leaps toward civil rights such as Dorothea Dix, who fought to get prisons reformed.

In Abigail and John Adams Converse on Women’s Rights, 1776, women want to be given the chance to live and be able to accomplish the tasks and responsibilities as everybody else in America. In the letter, Abigail writes to John saying without the women’s works that men will not be able to keep a family. She also says that he should not put all of the power with the men, because women need power to be able to take care of the family and work to keep their family both happy and safe. Abigail told John in her letters to remember the women when he was attending his meetings to develop the new Code of Laws.
Abigail states in her letter “I desire you would Remember the Ladies, and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors... If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice, or Representation.” (Abigail Adams: Letters from Abigail Adams to John Adams). She asks and urges with him to protect women’s rights in the new American government to come. This was taken into consideration by John, although he did not agree, and was shown what women could be redeemed as equal with rights into the following declaration.
According to her she believes that women are being treated just as badly by their husbands as they are being treated by the British. Even though Abigail is the point of view of these letters, her voice is for other women who wish to express the same feelings. When reading the letter it is more of a sense that Abigail wishes for more power. Even though she is pushing for women’s rights, its seems that she just wants men to understand that women can do other things and be considered someone of a higher position. Abigail is already of a higher position considering she is a free white women in a higher class, it is interesting to read that she recognizes that she is not settled with just being free but that she believes women are more then the label they have been

In the format of the declaration, she talks about how women aren’t free due to the fact that she cannot have property or wages. By stating “he has” over and over again it emphasises how much men have controlled women throughout their life. Although we have mostly overcome the inequality issues between men and women(in the U.S.) it is important to remember the past and how hard women had to fight to get the rights they now
The women of this movement were fighting for something they believed they deserve. Because of the Seneca Falls Convention and the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolution, women were able to express their own opinions. The women’s rights movement led to many different events, impacted other countries, and created a new amendment. The feminist efforts in the mid 1800s were successful enough to allow women to take on occupations and educations they weren’t able to obtain
Numerous women expressed their disapproval towards how they were denied their rights based on their gender, thus causing women to take a stand for their suffrage and rights. In a letter to her husband, Abigail Adams told him to “be more generous and favourable to [women] than [his]
