The Outsiders is a novel written by S.E. Hinton and takes place in Oklahoma during the 1960s. One theme in this novel that stands out most to me is loyalty. The story is told by Ponyboy Curtis, and illustrates his conflict with right and wrong in his world, where he feels like an outsider. Loyalty to Ponyboy means giving and receiving honor, integrity, trust, support, family, pride, honesty and faithful to those closest to him.
In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, how did three people's actions affect one person? Soda, Johnny, and Dally’s choices affect Ponyboy by staying calm, helping others, and making sure other people are okay. Dallas Winston, the “Outsider” Ponyboy and his gang are all considered “Outsiders” but there is one greaser from their gang that stands out the most with the title of “Outsider”. Dallas Winston is a hoodlum from New York who had been arrested many times since he was 10 years old. His parents weren’t around when he was growing up, and this really affected his life because he didn’t have anyone to tell him what to do. FINAL EDIT: In my eighth grade English class, we are reading a YA novel titled, “The Outsiders. ” I am amazed by this text because the author, SE Hinton, uses dramatic wording to create tension and imagination in her writing.. When I read this book, it feels like I am in the story, and that every event is the climax of the book.

This story reminds me of William Shakespeare's story Romeo and Juliet of their similarities which are they gangs, fights, and loyalty and differences that are the wealthiness, behaviors, and between the two books. One of the similarities of the two books is the groups/ gangs, because in Romeo and Juliet there are the Montague and Capulets and in The Outsiders there are the greasers and the Socs. They are both enemies and try to sabotage and fight each other when every they have the chance to.

Hinton’s story The Outsiders there are two such characters that have similarities and differences. Johnny Cade and Dallas Winston are similar because they have abusive parents, and they both have very little values on their life. Additionally, they have differences that involve the law and the way they want to die. Therefore, Dally Winston and Johnny Cade have huge differences in their lives, but also notable similarities.

During Ponyboy's journey he learns many important lessons, but after several tragic events, three key lessons stand out from all others. These are: to “stay gold,” not to judge others too quickly others and the pointless of violence. One of the most important lessons Ponyboy learns in The Outsiders is to, “Stay gold.”
