Paragraph One The book starts off with the crew and their Captain Marlow on the boat called Nellie, They are very civil and play board games to pass time. Once you go farther down the river the people turn to savages and they kill people for fun. These people lived in the Jungle for their lives and have gone insane, Not people you want to talk to. “Sandbanks, marshes, forests, savages,—precious little to eat fit for a civilized man, nothing but Thames water to drink.”
The Cahills were cornered by the Holts and the Holts ask for the clue but the Cahills were trying to stall. One of the Holts cannot take it any longer so he grabbed Dan by the neck and started to strangle him. Amy 's heart sank and she gave them the bag that the clue was in just to save her brother. Nellie found them and asked if they were okay and they said they were alright in a sad tone.

Septimus Warren Smith, a thirty year old shell-shocked World War 1 veteran is lost in his own mind and has detached himself from reality. He believes that he is somehow connected to the tree’s and doesn't want them to be cut down. The motorcar that backfired outside Mulberry’s shop window took Septimus back in time to when he was in the war. He began blaming himself for the traffic the car caused “ It is I who am blocking the way” (Woolf 15), and envisions it bursting into flames. Towards the beginning of the novel, a plane flew by and spelled out the word “Toffee.”
In Chapter 1, the overall main idea that the author writes about is Gantos lifestyle in St. Croix leading him to the drug culture. The drugs being available everywhere especially the dope never made him think that it would lead him to trouble or jail. He talks about the consequences that St. Croix is dealing, the racism between blacks and whites. His plans in St. Croix changing with the racism situation leading his father jobs to get cancelled, having them work at building wooden packages. He later meets Rik who’s a dope smuggler since he always has him shipping his artifacts with extra protection.
In the book Crescendo there are lots of twists and turns. In the story Nora is hanging out with Scott more and more. Patch tries to warn her that something is going to happen. Since the archangels are watching Nora and Patch closely, they can’t talk to each other out in the open. Patch figures out how to talk to Nora in her dream.
Michael walked up to the door and knocked tree times. He nervously pulled down his arm sleeve. Charlie answered the door in his pajamas. “I was wondering, you know under the circumstances, if I could crash at you place” Michael asked shifting from one foot to the other. Charlie sighed and opened the door wider to allow his brother to slip past into the apartment.
With a twitch, I coughed, gasping for air. My whole body was wet, shivering, lying on the hard floor. To my right was the wooden trough resting on it’s side. It was empty now. All around me the cobblestone floor was wet.
He(the character) had internal conflict and external because he had found out something tragic that he will not forgive his father for what he had done in the past. The was some foreshadowing in the beginning so then they started to explain what have happen to that man hat have died. That would have gave the read some emotion to the story or thinking of the story of what they will be talking about or giving more info to answer the questions that the read had. “I wanted movement and not a clam course of existence. I wanted excitement and danger and the change to sacrifice myself for myself a superabundance of energy which found no outlet in our life.
I. “My brother and I were no longer safe in the city. They heard that in the country side, there might not be so much danger from the Natzi’s” (Page 11) In this quote, Anita explains how in the city they were in, it wasn’t safe anymore because of everything that the Natzi’s were doing to the Jews. Since in the country side, it’s always more quiet, they began to assume that maybe it would be more safe for them over there.
CHAPTER FOUR Less than a light year away, on Earths only moon, sat Colin’s imperial mothership and inside it, Colin on his throne. The empires chief scientist, Simon, is sitting down pondering during a time in which he was supposed to be at work. He stared down at the Earth, with a sad face, “Those stupid asses,” he muttered. Logan, Simon’s assistant, simply didn’t know whether to respond or not to, for Simon often did talk to himself.
