After almost 2 years of research and development, Victor finished his work and finally, “beheld the accomplishment of [his] toils,” when he “saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open.” (p. 51) Victor was using his knowledge of science to play God and resurrect the lifeless, which was something only an all-powerful entity should do. After Victor created and soon abandoned the monster, “six years had elapsed,” (p. 70) and during those many years, Victor had no contact with the creature. He deserted his responsibility and commitment, a potentially dangerous monster that he constructed because, “breathless horror and disgust filled [his] heart.”

In two different passages throughout the story offers different animations that allows Shelley’s concern for man’s lustful pursuit of knowledge. The first passage allows the audience to get an insight of the creation of the monster and thought process with Victor. On the other hand, the second passage allows a viewpoint from the monster when he exposes himself to the DeLacy family. “I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet” (55). This shows Victor’s feelings to the creature that he say instruments that it does not matter that the limbs once was an actual person.

In the beginning, Victor reveals his timidity towards occurring disasters. When the creature comes to life, Victor realizes that it is grotesque and describes, “I rushed out of the room and continued a long time traversing my bedchamber, unable to compose my mind to sleep” (42). Upon realizing the unfortunate turnout of the creation, Victor avoids confronting his fault by hurrying off and hiding in his bedroom. Accordingly, Victor is unable to control his creation. When the creature leaves after threatening Victor about a tragedy on his wedding night, Victor asks himself, “Why had I not followed him and closed with him in mortal strife?”
Victor's fear of being known as the creator of the creature, and the creature killing his family made him more and more isolated from the world just like the creature was. Victor even said “Revenge kept me alive" (pg149) similar to the creature's “insatiable thirst for vengeance”(pg 164) which kept him alive. Victor and the monster both had a similar desire for a loving family, and neither one could have it. Victor was given a woman to marry, his mother said “I have a pretty present for my Victor - tomorrow he shall have it” (pg 18) talking about Elizabeth. The creature wanted to be given a woman to be with just as Victor had.

The knocking stopped suddenly although it’s echos were still in the house. “I’m sorry” The words resounded through the room, giving off an eerie atmosphere. Mrs.White slowly turned around, a mix of both fear and desperation in her eyes. “You didn’t” she whispered, as tears threatened to fall.
Victor deprives himself of “rest and health” (56) as he has “worked hard for nearly two years” (56) while he isolated himself in his chamber creating the creature. Once Victor’s creation was complete, he went into emotional isolation after realizing that had had truly created a monster.
From the moment Victor decided to create the Creature, he begins his assertion of dominance over the Creature. By creating a “monster” solely for his own
Victor had two loving parents that gave him everything he ever needed or wanted to fulfill his physiological and emotional needs. Since Victor did not do this for his monster, the monster would kill all of Victor’s family and friends that he loved which would bring destruction to Victor’s life. For the rest of his days, Victor would go on a search for his monster to destroy it or die trying. Unlike Victor, the monster was never loved because of the way he looked. He was left alone, even by his creator, and lived a miserable life always escaping people that would “attacked [him], until, grievously bruised by stones and many other kinds of missile weapons” (Shelley).

Chapter 1 Summary Review The most important thing in the story of Joseph is to see how God will start to reveal Himself. We see G-d 's spirit in Joseph life starting at very young age of 17. G-d by his spirit is starting to give Joseph dreams and understanding to interpret the dreams. Also we see Him appear to Joseph in the wilderness as an angel of the Lord.
