Generational Differences In Today's Society

Although every generation has its own outstanding points, each society has its own problems between generational differences at present. These problems come from their different ways of perspectives; for example, older generations accept traditionalism while younger generations tend to support modernism. Basically, we should understand that we cannot live in the past forever and we need modern things to catch up with other developed countries. Therefore, we must understand as well as compromise the changes and we should retain good traditions and discard harmful traditions. The conflicts from generational differences in Myanmar society are older generations’ lacking open mindedness, believing in traditionalism, and accepting long-standing belief like male dominated society. The first root of the conflicts is the older generation tends to be more narrow-minded in terms of their thinking ways. Older generations in Myanmar believe in old traditions like the movie called “Bend It Like Beckham”, which presents about young girls in Indian modern society forget their future ambitions even if they break the rules of their traditions and customs like women’s playing football and an Indian family does not want a daughter- in-law who runs around kicking …show more content…

The changing environment is causing society to restructure and reconfigure their long-held cultural values and daily life. Nobody can deny that ancient traditions should be preserved carefully, but we need to maintain the balance between traditionalism and modernism because we need to keep abreast of improvements of developed countries. Therefore, I think that an ideal society where traditionalism and modernism can fit in with each other is compromising traditionalism and modernism by preserving and reviving the old virtues which can create our society great one and by adapting modern ways which can help us to improve our life and
