I am Carley White, I go to Van Wert High school, and I’m fifteen years old. Reading is one of my favorite things to do. The most recent book I read was The Summer I Turned Pretty. I didn’t plan on reading this book, my first choice was “Me, Him, Them and It,” by Caela Carter. The summary of the book is what made me choose it, but as I started reading it I lost interest because I wasn’t hooked. I stopped reading it and picked out a new book, which was The Summer I Turned Pretty.

She knew she had changed and they knew it too. She wasn’t the little Belly they used to pick on all the time, she is this woman who is very confident in who she is. I understand what Belly is going through. Just like Belly, I was the shy girl who met a friend that made me step out of my comfort zone. Bell also has a friend like that,Taylor, she is an outgoing person and makes Belly do things she would've never done before. I have a lot of friends like that. Belly also becomes very honest with herself and with Conrad. She has been in love with him for years and he knew that. Conrad used Belly’s love for him against her. He would play mind games and act like he didn’t like her, but he does. She became very confused and angry, which cause her to go up to him and confront him. She assumed that he was being cold to her because he didn’t want to face the feelings he had for her. Belly soon found out that Conrad wasn’t being rude because he likes her, but the woman who raised him was dying. People deal with grief in different ways, most people are like Conrad and are angry and distant from everyone. My grandma passed away two years ago and I was angry.
