The question is: Is a university degree still important today? Some say yes, because it is seen to be a major achievement in life; yet others disagree, as they believe university is a waste of time and money because it requires at least 3 or more years to earn a bachelor’s degree with each year costing a substantial amount of money. From my perspective, the advantages of earning a college degree exceed the disadvantages. Have you ever joked or mentioned about dropping out of high school? Throughout the whole essay, I will be persuading my audience on why university is significant.
University education acts as the key to a successful future. Earning a degree is such a crucial step in life that it has become a central part of the "dream"; go to university, get a job, buy a house and raise a family. It may not always be that simple, but it all starts with your university education. Earning a university degree is all about opening up opportunities in life. Studying at degree level develops transferable skills such as time management, problem solving, independent thought, report writing, team working, leadership skills and effective communication. These skills are developed in all areas of university life by organising workloads, planning research, dealing with multiple deadlines, working part time and planning social events.
