Frank Rich maintains a critical tone throughout the entire article. His use of short sentences such as “Actually, no. People don’t change” and the word “minions” to describe Hilary Clinton in the first section shows his discontent with the candidate. Rich continues his critical tone as he discusses the other candidates. The use of words such as “bigoted”, “cowering”, and “off-the-wall” show that Rich is angry at the majority of the candidates.
Chapter 19 describes a scenario that the most critical time on earth is the current opportunity and the period between 1966 and 1973 serves as the time of the narration. The story teaches human beings that no one would be certain what happens in their lives tomorrow. Enjoyment of the life and opportunity that one has currently would be the highest honour one would do to self (Kittay). The scenario that ensued in the presence of Deborah after she conceived and when she got the child would serve as a practical example of the above assertion. Baby Joe underwent tribulations despite having parental attention.
Swift's Proposal was an awesome proposal. Although I would agree it may not be the liking to many, I think he provided raw emotions that kept my attention . Swift wrote the proposal to bring awareness of the many issue people living in Ireland endure. In his approach, he use satire and irony.

In “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” and “Illicit Affairs,” Taylor Swift invokes the appeal of pathos to demonstrate her empathy for her listeners and uses similes, metaphors, hyperboles, apostrophes, allusions, and anaphora to deliver creative stories.

Nathaniel Hawthorne writes about the Puritan society’s ways. He talks about this adventure of Goodman Brown seeing the devil and many other common fears during the time of the Puritan society. Brown doesn’t know if what he saw was real or fake, so he doesn't inform anyone of this situation due to the society he is in. The character of Goodman Brown modifies the reader’s understanding of Puritan ideals of religion by using a dark tone. Hawthorne uses common fears to make the audience feel panicked.
Behind every song, there is a story that summarizes an event that happened to the singer. The story behind Taylor Swift’s song “Bad Blood” is all about breaking the trust and cheating. The music video for the song defined the theme of the words and their meaning, and what I liked the most is that both the lyrics and the video have the same story. In my own point of view, I think that the music video and lyrics complete the song and make the song different and have a special taste. Both the video which represents Taylor Swift’s reaction toward the unexpected betrayal and the words of the song delivered a life message.

Mark Twain, an 18th century humorist, was known for his critical and satirical writing. In one of his most famous essays, “ Fenimore Coopers Literary Offenses” Twain addresses Coopers inability to realistically develop a “situation” and his failure to effectively back up his stories in order for them to be more plausible. To dramatically convey his unimpressed and sarcastic attitude, he applies biting diction, metaphors and hypophora throughout this work . By continuously using biting diction, Twain develops a mocking tone towards Fenimore Cooper’s incapability to create even the simplest of storylines. In the title of the work a sarcastic tone is evident; the word choice is utilized to reinforce the argument stating how Coopers work is an offense to the world of literature.
A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens, surrounds the cities of Paris and London during the late 1700’s. The novel takes place during the French Revolution, a period of social and political upheaval in France and England. While peasants died in the streets from hunger, aristocrats had more money and power than they knew what to do with. A Tale of Two Cities describes, in detail, the poverty of the time period, as well as the struggle of a people able to overcome oppression. The novel is largely based off of occurrences Dickens experienced during his childhood.
Imprisonment and constraint, can be felt in many different scenarios in the passage from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. However, we get these two feelings with a girl who is portrayed as an orphan in this chapter. When being an orphan many feelings can run through a person’s mind, for example abandonment and not feeling loved, or being/feeling trapped. The feeling of imprisonment and constraint in this chapter is expressed through the use of imagery and diction. Imagery is viewed in this chapter in a variety of sentences.
