The risk the young boy on the beach took affected the rest of his life positively and if he never took a chance such as that, he may never have become the type of person he is. When the narrator decided to take a risk, he had no idea what the outcome might’ve been. He affected the fisherman’s way of thinking.
In writing A Voyage Long and Strange, Tony Horwitz’s goal is clear, to educate others on early America and debunk ignorant myths. Horwitz’s reason for wanting to achieve this goal is because of his own ignorance that he sees while at Plymouth Rock. “Expensively educated at a private school and university- a history major, no less!-I’d matriculated to middle age with a third grader’s grasp of early America.” Horwitz is disappointed in his own lack of knowledge of his home country, especially with his background history and decides not only to research America’s true beginnings, but to also follow the path of those who originally yearned to discover America.
Osh, a character from Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk, would be the best partner on a deserted island because he is a strong caregiver, quick thinking, and resourceful. Osh has proved to be a strong caregiver, which makes him a worthy partner to be stranded on an island with. At this point in the story, Osh is talking to Crow about the challenges of raising her. He didn’t want Crow to be taken away from him so he would go above and beyond to keep her protected and content.

The book that I have read is The the White Sea, written by award-winning and best-selling author, James Dickey. This book was published in the year of 1993 by Delta. It is a fiction novel based on World War II. James Dickey was an American Novelist. He was born on February 2, 1923 and died on January 19, 1997.

Father and son were reunited but the meeting was cut short with another test. A large fishing net captured Nemo once again and Marlin had to fight against himself to trust Nemo and all the others to work together. The net broke and everyone was free including Nemo. Marlin and Nemo lay on the ground while they bask in the calm that engulfed them. Nemo and Marlin returned to their home reef and back to their normal life.

Philip Pullman is the author of the children’s book trilogy: His Dark Materials. Due to Pullman’s Atheist claims, the children’s book is extremely controversial all over the world. However, there are many situations throughout His Dark Materials that suggest that there is a God-like higher power at work. Despite Pullman’s claims on being an Atheist, his strong Anglican roots caused him to write a trilogy that sustains the concept of religion and replaces one God with another: Dust.
Every novel or stories gives a fundamental ideas or lesson for the readers. Most of the lesson are informative and it brings a changes to the readers mind. There will be a universal of an ideas explored in a literature and readers can abstract numerous themes depending on each individual. Similarly, in the novel “the old man and the sea” Hemingway depicted several themes related to nature, people and so on. However determination can also be one of the theme for the readers because the old man, Santiago didn’t gave up fishing even if he had cramp but he took this as an encouragement in his old age.
The novel, The Old Man and the Sea, is a story about an old man, Santiago, who experienced great adversity but did not give up. The author, Ernest Hemingway, describes how an old man uses his experience, his endurance and his hopefulness to catch a huge marlin, the biggest fish he has ever caught in his life. The old man experienced social-emotional, physical, and mental adversity. However, despite the overwhelming challenges, he did not allow them to hold him back but instead continued to pursue his goal of catching a fish with determination. Santiago’s character, his actions and the event in the novel reveals an underlying theme that even when one is facing incredible struggles, one should persevere.
Fantasy is a make-believe, fictional world or place made for entertainment, typically by people who find reality boring or dull. People invented fantasy to make new surreal worlds, which opened people’s minds to new possibilities. Fantasy can be used to escape the real world, Coraline, a fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman, is a good example of this. It pulls us into a new world full of strange beings and new, unknown places. Fantasy is the real world from an unfamiliar perspective, taking difficult tasks in life and expressing them as a giant creature that someone must (possibly) slay.
Hemingway presents the elements of failure and suffering in The Old Man and the Sea by depicting several instances of suffering and failure which the Old Man, Santiago, has to go through throughout the course of the novel. According to Hemingway, life is just one big struggle. In the beginning of the novel itself, The Old Man, is presented as a somewhat frail old man who is still struggling with his life as well as his past failures. His skiff even had a sail which bore great resemblance to “the flag of permanent defeat”, with its multiple patches all over.
After hearing that story, he was inspired to write a play and “Riders to the Sea” was written. Considered one of the greatest one-act plays of modern theatre, it combines elements of rural Irish life and its pagan influences with Greek tragedies. He masterfully paints a picture of the sorrows of Irish rural life and the perseverance of the people in the face of their harsh environment.
