After the civil war, government estiabled different policies. Changes occurred one by one. Between 1860-1900, government policies position the farmers and ranchers in the west not only progress on individual opportunity by giving farmers more land opportunity and educational opportunity, but also setback on individual opportunity by giving farmers poor land resource and less market securing credit. First, government policies made a progress in increasing individual opportunity which specifically about land distribution and education system among the farmers between 1860-1900. For land distribution, one of the policies was the Homestead Act.
These colonies attracted people from all over, including the Dutch, Swedes, Finns, and Scots because of their generous land grants and religious tolerance. Pennsylvania, another colony, was later founded by William Penn as a safe home for Quakers in 1681. Most people came as indentured servants, or people agreed to work for someone for a set amount of years in return for a trip to America. They did not care about the work; they just wanted to be free and earn money.

Even though Mandela became president, he didn’t do as much as Chavez did.

Some colonists traded American Indians corn for beaver fur. The economy was bad because the king raised taxes but when they started making the tobacco plantations helped the economy out.
Southern opposition soon surfaced claiming that all Americans had equal rights in new lands. They argued slaves were their property and they had to right to do with their property as they see fit. I created the Job Posting as a way to represent the needs for different trades when settling Virginia. Most likely people would have heard about the opportunity to move by word of mouth, but I felt that a Job Posting would affectively show the need for different types of trades in America. I used images of John White’s water color paintings of Virginia and the Native American Tribe Secotan (Nadie’s homeland) to help make a connection to the story. In A World Away people of different occupations were needed to travel to the New World to help establish a colony. Tom was allowed to follow Nadie back to her land because he was a blacksmith and he was needed.
Georgia land policies created westward expansion. For example, the head write system was created to attract settlers by giving away free land. It was called the head write system because every head of household had a right to land. The head right was obtained by being a white man and have made a declaration of his honesty and integrity and paid a small filling fee. In 1782 200 acres of land was entitled to each head of a family.
He came from a family of farm workers, but he was privileged enough to go to college, and have many connection when he was older. Going black hoe he saw that the exploitation has not ended yet, and he thought it was enough. He also started working at the farm, so he could show everyone that he was like them too and that he knows what they are going through. It means no matter what drawbacks one may have in the beginning one can work hard and reach to their fullest potential. The reason why I am for the movement to the West in the 1850’s and 1860’s is because moving to the West changed a lot of people’s lives for the better. Samuel Thurston had a so what part in this movement. Samuel wanted to make a big change so he moved to Oregon and then later on he wanted Congress to give away land to that people would settle the West. Then the Donation Land Claim was passed which gave settlers up to six hundred forty acers of land for free. When the Donation Land Claim was passed he wrote an article outlining many exciting reasons to move West and he even provided directions for how to get there.
Why did the colonists expand westward? Well, at the time the colonists were very close together on the East coast and many people wanted to explore their living westward away from most of the civilization, to make their own. I am thankful for westward expansion because I live in west. The westward expansion was a great help to everyday life. This had great exploration westward for the brave people that decided to endure this excruciating journey.
The secessionist movement leading up to the Civil War was rooted in white southerners’s desperation to maintain their economically archaic societal norms. Rapid evolution to capitalism in the North startled the South, for they feared the Union would prioritize the unfamiliar notion of industrialism over the stable southern agriculture. Tensions dealing with slavery began with the drafting of the Constitution; however, the threat of abolitionism did not become truly apparent until the mid-19th century with the adoption of multiple pieces of contradicting legislation. The North and South maintained drastically different views on the concept of slavery, which became glaringly apparent with the Anthony Burns event as well as the developments that followed. The South grew to believe that such differences were irrevocable, and that secession was the only route in which they could uphold their principles.
Therefore when the Emancipation Proclamation was issued it was a blessing for many slaves. It was a chance for them to finally live a free kind of normal life as much as possible.
