I’m interested in transferring to VCU because of your medical program. In the Spring of 2014 my boyfriend was in a motorcycle accident and spent two weeks at VCU Medical Center. The care he received there was the best. Not only do the care for the patient, they care for the family too. I remember breaking down and crying in the Gateway Building.
My mission, or who I am as a radiographer, is to provide the highest standards of healthcare to my patients and their families resulting in healing spiritually, physically, and emotionally. My vision, or the lasting effects I want to leave on society, is to leave an infinitely positive impression on all individuals by providing contagious honesty, respect, and care. The ways I achieve my mission and vision are through my values. The top five core values that I hold in high regard are integrity, compassion, honesty, dedication, and respect. These values link very closely with the programs and Loma Linda University’s
Every state in the US has an affiliated chapter branching from the national organization that advocates for all Physician Assistants, known as the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). The American Academy of Physician Assistants handles licensing requirements, networking opportunities, job resources, and provides tools to improve PA practice and patient care for each state and federal service chapter. These individual state affiliations branching from the AAPA are pertinent to the Physician Assistant profession because they allow for more direct and local resources for Physician Assistants. Having an individual state chapter makes it easier to find local jobs in the area and get answers to questions about each state law requirement.
Internship Most physician assistant programs require anywhere between 500-1,000 hours of shadowing a physician assistant and direct patient contact. Direct patient contact can be considered to be working or volunteering as an EMT, Medical Assistant, Medical Scribe, Nurse, Nursing Assistant, etc. In order to fulfill these requirements, I will be taking a Nursing Assistant course over this summer to receive my certification to begin working towards the hours I will need to apply to a program. Once I am a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), I plan on shadowing physician assistants over the summer from different specialties.
Broken bones or raging fevers,The two jobs that I chose to further gain knowledge of is a physician assistant and a physical therapist. As I was doing my research I wanted to see the extent of requirements that each occupation requires while seeing overall which job sounds more appealing to me. As of right now I am leading towards the physician assistant job as I have always been interested more of the prescription medicine side of things. In the future I have to decide whether or not I want to more personally in to the range of motions of people who have been injured, or look in to a more personal connection with the medicine side of things.
Thank you for taking the time to review my personal statement on why I have chosen to embark on the journey to become a Physician Assistant. My story started several years ago, more than I care to count, when I stumbled into the health care world as a paramedic in rural Pennsylvanian. While in high school, I became friends with several other students who were actively volunteering with a local fire department. After hearing their stories about the things they were learning and doing I also joined a volunteer fire department, mostly out of curiosity. Over the course of a couple of years I discovered that the challenges that I encountered during training and responding to emergencies had unlocked some unrealized, more like unknown, drive inside
Ethnomedicine has been historically defined as any healthcare system not present in the West; now, ethnomedicine is defined as the any cultural beliefs which surround healing in a community. The Hmong—an ethnic group located within present day Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand—have a particular system of ethnomedicine which is described as personalistic. Within a personalistic system, an active agent is the underlying cause of a disease—or etiology. Humans can be the cause of the disease as well as a number of non-human and supernatural agents. When Lia Lee began seizing at three months of age, her parents understood that the active agent which caused her epilepsy was a door slamming which caused her soul to fly from her body, an illness called quag
I support providing the best care possible to all our patients and the intention of this email stands solely for the purposes of indicating facts. Firstly, the MA utilizes the needle and gauge sizes recommended by the manufacturer of the needles and according to the recommendation of the immunization web site. The medical assistant under went training by previous LPNs and RNs and every medical assistant passed the check off test. The 25 gauge one inch needle is great for giving an injection at the deltoid site, however there are many factors that one should consider such as; the patient size, the patient weight, and the type of medication administered. Going directly to the point, the medical assistant SHOULD NOT administer a Depo
I like to be involved with the learning process by using all of my five senses and through hands-on activities. For many years, I have had the strong urge and desire to study in the field of radiology. Because I obtain information best by learning visually and through hands-on experience - I am blessed with the opportunity to shadow fellow intelligent radiologic technicians at the Uvalde Memorial Hospital. During my time there, I obtained very crucial information. After reading and comprehending information obtained from radiologic textbooks, I was able to link the details and facts together from learning through my hands-on
The traits that make a good medical assistant employee are numerous. The top three traits are different from one individual to next because we all see and have our own opinions which do not make anyone wrong. The traits that I have chosen are listening skills, teamwork, and organizational skills that would make me a good medical assistant. A personal trait that makes a good medical assistant is to have good listening skills.
Early on in medical school, I began inquiring about available interest groups and reaching out to physicians to complete case reports with and shadow on my free days. Being the vice president and now the current president of the Seldinger Society at the University of South Dakota has allowed me to grow in a leadership position while furthering my passion for radiology. These experiences showed me that I enjoy mentoring in the field, learning and teaching radiology-related material, and the day-to-day tasks of a radiologist. With technology continuously advancing and the continuous increased usage of imaging, radiology provides endless opportunities for lifelong learning and evidence-based practice to benefit patients. At the annual ASSR meeting where I presented a poster presentation, I had the opportunity to meet residents and attendings in the field from across the country.
My short-term goal is to find a new job. I like my job right now but it’s starting to take a toll on me. I work at an assistant living for over 4 years now, and I’m starting to get attached the residents. Some of the residents I got the closes with have passed away or moved into a nursing home.
The Spirit Catches you and you Fall Down” is an astonishing book that reveals the need for improvement of cultural competency in the American healthcare system. This book teaches me the importance of the role of healthcare administrator as a cultural advocate between the patients and the providers. This book also influences me in realizing the differences between patients’ culture and providers’ culture. Moreover, I can relate to Jeanine Hilt, a social worker who truly cares for the Hmong culture and the Lees Family. Healthcare administrators must be aware of the cultures of the population that reside in the region that your facility is located.
Working in different settings and meeting new people that need to be taken care of has always interested me. The job I want to have while I go to college is the very challenging role of a Medical Assistant. Due to the experiences that have happened in my life, I believe that becoming a medical assistant is the best career choice for me. There are many duties and responsibilities I will have as a medical assistant.
