The controversial discussion about pro-life and pro-choice dates back to the ruling of the famous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case and continues to be a topic of discussion in the twenty-first century. In your editorial, “No Choice rather than Pro-Choice,” in the July 10, 2015 issue of the Seattle Times, the topic of discussion was whether or not women should have the right to an abortion. The arguments that you discussed were unclear and the facts you provided were not quite accurate. I did not know whether to believe that you were against abortion or for it at times, which gave me the impression that you may be confused. You started off your editorial with a disclaiming statement as to what you believe in, by saying that “abortion is such an …show more content…
However, there is one war that is one of the most horrible and it has gone unnoticed. The topic of abortion has been going on for decades now, but most Americans do not recognize that it is truly a war, right here in our country. This war has claimed the lives of over 60 million in the past forty-two years (CDC). The war of abortion is what has been unnoticed for a while now. This misfortune is as shocking as anything terrorists can perpetrate, because it hits at the core of humanity and our country. It takes the lives of precious individuals that bind our country together. You are not seeing that this is a war in our country; instead you are worrying about why the men are making the decisions for the women: “it seems so arrogant and callous for men - who dominate state and federal governments and judgeships - to make decisions about what women may or may not do with their bodies and the life that grows inside them.” The men dominate the governments because women tend not to run, and someone has to get the job, “men are more than 60 percent more likely to run for office than women” (American University). The data was taken from a survey by the American University to show that women tend to not run for state and federal offices simply because they do not have confidence or do not care to run. Therefore, men take the initiative and run for state and federal offices. Also, the war of …show more content…
Williams, you are entitled to your opinion, and I respect that. I have done an extensive amount of research on this topic, to the point I am almost an expert. The information that you provided did not give a clear understanding of why we should be pro-choice rather than pro-life. You should ask yourself if killing a human is the right decision. The obvious response to this question should be no, why is it necessary to harm a female and the unborn human? Abortion is not the right path to take, because it is killing a human being that could potentially change the world. You should consider another route, because the one that you are considering is dangerous for woman to consider and morally incorrect. I have provided essential examples to why abortion is a no, now it your decision to either listen or kill an unborn. Make a wise
Those who are Pro-Choice claim that it 's the mother 's choice on what to do, but what about the child 's? I completely agree that women deserve a right to choose what they want to do with their own body, but not at the cost of another living being. Unless a woman is raped, she had a choice. There are so many forms of birth control offered and widely available for anyone in need of them. You choose to have sexual intercourse and you choose whether or not to take proper precautions in order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
Within the recent events of the overturning of Roe V Wade the opinions on abortion have been at the forefront of political conversations. Especially among the people who are pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life believes that an unborn fetus is a life and killing it is killing a person, meanwhile pro-choice is the belief that someone who is carrying the fetus has the right to choose whether they keep it or not. The article “3 Compelling Reasons I am Pro-life” by Tim Counts on the website erlc is about the reasoning behind this man’s point of view. The article uses three points religion, science, and “human flourishing and love”.
Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice: Annihilating the Abortion Argument says, “In light of the fact that both science and Scripture corroborate the view that abortion is the painful killing of an innocent human being, it is incumbent upon Christians to do everything in their power to halt the spread of this enormous evil.” You wouldn’t like to get killed with no chance to say no or no chance to say no or to put up a fight. Killing an innocent person is wrong and you should be put in jail for doing that because your baby should have the chance to live. Even if you don’t want the baby you could keep it for the nine months and then give it to a family that can’t have kids and could give someone a good
Two effects an action of killing can have are whether the one doing the killing foresees someone’s death or intends for someone’s death. Foreseeing what will happen to someone is what the one who’s doing the doing can predict, or can infer what the outcome will be such as an indirect action. Someone who intends for someone’s death, or of something, is what the individual wants to accomplish, in other words, it is their means in which they are wanting to reach such as a direct action. The debate between what distinguishes the act of someone intending and foreseeing someone’s death is familiar to how people also distinguish their moral views between abortion and pro-choice. My view is simply this, because both debates are not set in stone in the sense of moral standards.
Even though the idea of abortion is very controversial because there are lots of different religious aspects and opinions in the world. The government is still working on ways to benefit everyone 's opinion. The house of Representatives, congress, the supreme court, the president debate every day on new bills to be passed to make the people
In regards to the well known and controversial case, Roe v. Wade, I have taken up a definite opinion on the matter. Before my research ever began, I have held this stance and even now, I feel more confident in expressing it after the things I have learned. I am on the side of Pro-Life. Abortion, to me, is a cruel way to make up for others mistakes by killing the life of an innocent baby.
Some people think it is not morally correct to perform one, and others believe that abortion is a constitutional right. There are medical, moral, religious, financial, political, and constitutional reasons supporting both sides of this argument. I think that any woman who chooses to have an abortion should have the right to, with no trouble by the law. I also believe there are certain instances where abortion is the best or only option. Say a woman gets pregnant, but is in no condition to take care of a child.
Debates between Pro-Choice and Pro-Life have been going on for decades. Since the beginning of human civilization the process of terminating a pregnancy has been practiced, by the mid 1800’s many people thought it to be murder and it should be stopped. By 1880 abortion had been banned in the United States through the process of protesting state legislatures. Even though abortions have been outlawed they still were being done illicitly and illegally. In the 19th century all surgical procedures, including abortion were very risky.
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
Pro-Choice vs. Pro-Life Abortion. The word alone has the power to make a room go still. The popular debate topic has a reputation of provoking aggression no matter where it is mentioned due to its strong relation to people’s rights and ethics, but does it really need further deliberation? Abortions should be kept legal across the United States for a multitude of reasons: they allow people to stay in school and work, largely lessen likelihood of would-be-parents falling into economic depressions, prevent overload of responsibilities to the unprepared, protect women’s rights to privacy, help reduce the number of parentless children, conserve resources, give options, decrease maternal injuries, lower crime rates, and maintain the amount of federal spending on welfare.
There are two sides to this debate in which individuals identify themselves as either “pro-choice” or “pro-life.” Supporters classify themselves as pro-choice, and argue “that choosing abortion is a right that should not be limited by governmental or
