The National Honor Society is an exceptional organization that allows students to help the needy, children, the elderly, and non-profit organizations. I would be excited to join such a society because of the limitless opportunities it presents to me. Joining NHS would allow me to grow as a person, and do as much as I can for others. Throughout my years as a student, I have shown great examples of scholarship, leadership, character and service that I believe would qualify to join this prestigious society. As Wikipedia defines it, the word scholarship means academic study or achievement; learning at a high level.
Being one of the few who is eligible to be chosen for National Honor Society is an honor in itself, I have my teachers and peers to thank for helping me keep a positive attitude and a good character in and out of school. With the constant encouragement that I get from them, my character, scholarship and leadership all keep improving. I am hoping that by being chosen to be in NHS I can add serving the community and helping those in need to my list of improving qualities. Since the ninth grade when I was informed about NHS I was determined to keep my grades up to meet the required GPA, retaking exams when needed and paying close attention in my classes. Please describe any and all significant goals you would like to accomplish while here at UCI. * I have many pivotal and distinguish goals I endeavor to reach; all are intended to help me leave UCI further knowledgeable and self-assured. My background and atmosphere has heavily contributed to formulating certain goals and fuel me to work arduously to accomplish them. I will be the first in my family to ever attend a university, which really petrifies me.
My proudest accomplishment would be being college bound. Being college bound delineates how far I've progressed in life and how much I've achieved. Taking my background into consideration, I've accomplished so much more than i would ever have predicted, and I have proved so many people wrong. Throughout life, my intelligence was often questioned and i was frequently told by my family and peers that I wouldn't accomplish anything of great substance and that my dreams are futile. Nevertheless, I never let their spiteful words bring me down or sway my focus and i continued working hard so one day I can repay my mom for all she did for me.
Taking the time to write out people, places, things, and memories I couldn’t live without along with goals I have for my life, showed me what is truly important. I think it is common for people to never take the time to write down what is actually driving them to accomplish things in life. I believe in working hard and remain steadfast to achieve my aim irrespective of any hurdles that come in life. This strong faith in my abilities, zeal to work hard has made me intransigent in my path and provided me the breakthrough to my vigor. I strive to work for the best in my chosen field to the best of my potential. My encouraging and supportive parents have always believed in this epigram and have accentuated on a comprehensive approach to education. So I have been affluent to realize my educational dreams to a large extent in my family.
Although I work hard for everything I do and am always dedicated, I learned that hard work and dedication are much stronger when goals are made. I also realized you can learn just as much from watching as doing. As I prepare for college, I will carry this into being a better student to my professors. Finally, I am grateful for the huge support system that helped me accomplish my goal. My CORHA family, my mother and father, sisters, and friends were always there for advice and support; this is a blessing that is beyond any price tag.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
The unique qualities and characteristics that I possess that will allow me to contribute to the UCF community are being able to work independently and staying motivated at everything I do. Working independently has prepared me for the future because I will not have anyone but myself to get my tasks done. All my life I have worked very hard to get everything I have wanted to accomplish in life especially during my junior year I set a goal to get straight A’s and I put my mind to it and I finally was able to obtain the grades I wanted. After all the years I have worked hard it has paid off which is why I am where I am today with a 4.236 weighted GPA and a 3.727 unweighted GPA. I’ve always been in Honors classes and get good grades, currently I have a GPA of 3.4 but am striving to better myself and get a 4.0. I try to always have a positive outlook on situations and prepare myself for challenging ones. I have great teamwork skills and I work great with different types of people even disabled/special needs. The philosophy of Capital One is “Hire great people and give them the opportunity to be great.” Meaning give one a chance to see how good they can be. I don’t want just a job at Capital One I want a career with Capital One.
In National Honors Society, they recognize students with outstanding grades. I believe that I have done so, and I have worked hard to get the grades that I have gotten. My cumulative GPA is a 3.923 which I think is commendable. My grades are a top priority, and they are expected of me from my parents. I really care about my grades, and I try my hardest to keep them up.
