In 1861, Alfred M. Green delivered a speech to Black Americans in Philadelphia a month into the Civil War that would be remembered throughout history.The Civil War was a battle between the Confederate and Northern states covering the issue of slavery. In his speech, Alfred Green encourages African Americans to fight for their religious freedom. Green also persuades his audience to join the Union forces and end all discrimination and receive their freedom.
