The Civil War was caused by a combination of the problems of slavery, state’s rights, economic sectional differences, and political blunders and extremism. These factors combined in the 1850s to create a tense environment in which nearly every action could potentially lead to war. While the Civil War was inevitable, it was definitely partially caused by the extremism and poor political leadership of the preceding decade. However, these factors emerged out of cultural, economic, and political differences that were nearly a century in the making. There can be no doubt that extremism over issues of slavery factored into the causes of the Civil War.
The Islamic State. ISIS. ISIL. They go by many names. Their ever-changing definition is what creates the illusion that they are an elusive, enigmatic, unstoppable embodiment of terror (if you can’t define it, you can’t beat it, right?).
After 9/11 happened things changed drastically for specifically Muslim people. Anyone who looked similar to a “terrorist” was categorized as a terrorist, which is something that should not be assumed and should not be taken lightly by anyone. Many Muslims were scared for their lives and did not want to partake in their traditional values, such as wearing a headscarf because they did not want to be confronted by anyone. People also chose to change their names because when people would hear the name “Mohammed” people were very quick to judge who you were and would treat you very different. A study shows that in 2001 after 9/11 a record high 481 hate crimes against Muslims happened, and they were ranging from Muslim’s being murdered,

Radicalization is still a terrible thing for our society and many others. Many people that are radicalized are people that have nothing to lose and are violent. This leads to the potential loss of life when these people decide to demonstrate their views, whether it is through riot or terrorist attack, it will always threaten innocent lives. Going into this I
Osama Bin Laden Radicalization Osama bin Laden was one of the single most influential individuals when it comes to foreign policy towards the Middle East and the War on Terror. His ideas and attacks have shaped our country greatly over the last few decades. Osama bin Laden is somewhat confusing because of his background. Bin Laden was well educated and came from a very privileged Saudi family, yet he was the mastermind behind some of the worst attacks on America.
By researching radicalization, my opinion that radicalization is wrong did not change, I learned why it happens, and was able to connect it to my life. Initially when I first started researching radicalization, I only thought that radicalization involved Islamic terrorists. Now after reading the news article, The Radicalization of White Americans, by German Lopez, I now understand radicalization applies to so much more. It applies to white supremacist groups and other groups that have outspoken

There are so many societal problems to choose from but the most important societal problem today is we are not trying to understand why others think differently from us. We think we must agree but we will not listen to someone else’s beliefs and thoughts. There is no way to find a solution to a problem if we won’t acknowledge others views and listen to what they have to say to better understand the problem. Everyone thinks that we all have to agree on every topic and when we don’t agree we don’t start to try and understand why we think differently. When we don’t try to understand others opinions that is when people start getting offended because we don’t understand why people think what they think so there is no way to have a conversation

Well that is the life that many people have to live day by day. But in the book under the persimmon tree the same thing was happening to many families. Many people lived in fear of the Taliban. But Najmah a girl that lived in a town had to show true strength.
One of the most influential factor is definitely the media. First of all, we need to understand what cultivation means. Cultivation is how media in general affects the individual, in their view of their social reality. By only showing certain points of view, television today has enough power to affect the public discourse and therefore the individuals train of thoughts (Shanahan and Morgan 1999, p.4). This may cause certain misconceptions about different aspects of life, than one’s own aspects, thus altering their opinions but that is not all it causes.
