Although there were probably many factors that contributed to the start of the French Revolution, the three most important causes were taxes, the American revolution, and the spreading of the philosophes’ ideas. A very prominent cause of the French Revolution was the unfair amount of taxes for the Third Estate. According to Arthur Young, who traveled across France while it was still under the Old Regime, wrote about this in his book, Travels in France. An excerpt from his journal reads “Lands held by the nobility are taxed very little.

They were forced to pay a considerable amount of taxes to the lords. Due to this large sum of money, those part of the third estate struggled to provide themselves. In most cases, buying food was nearly impossible (Doc 1). On top of that, the third estate was forced to live on little land. Unlike with the first and second estates, the population of the third estate was not proportionate to the amount of living space (Doc 2).

The French Revolution was a revolution in France from 1789 to 1799. It also led to the end of the monarchy, and to many other wars. But every revolution has a cause right? Whether it be a major argument or one person's different belief, it’s still a start. The causes of the French Revolution were a lack of guidance, an unstable economy, and ideas from the American Revolution.

Not only was the third estate the only taxed they were severely taxed. The third estate made up ninety eight percent of the population yet they only owned sixty five percent of land, also the commoners paid one hundred percent of taxes while nobles and clergy collected them (Doc. 2). Peasants

Many conditions led up to the French Revolution. Political, social, and economical conditions caused anger and rage to people of the third class. The second estate had to pay taxes but not as much as the third. Also, the spending of money carelessly by the king and queen, further damaged the country. Their expenses were made up with goods and keeping and building the royal palace. this shows all the financial problems France faced during the revolution. During the French Revolution it changed many things and as well as people. Many people from the middle class struggled as the French Revolutionaries' were plotting some changes. In the French Revolution many causes happened like many unfair conditions, the Monarchy being thrown, and the ideas from the enlightenments. A cause for the revolution to start was that middle-class people start to struggle, unfair conditions, and taxes.in document 1 it says, "the poor people seem very poor indeed." (document 1).

The Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that reached its peak in the mid-1700s when many philosophers began reevaluating their past ways of thinking. One of the most powerful countries at the time was France. Even though the rest of the world praised their robust trading system and culture, they still faced significant problems within the government such as high taxes towards only certain groups of the population. These effects led to the revolution where thousands of poorer French citizens fought for radical change in the feudal system. Modern Enlightenment ideas in Europe had a huge influence on the French Revolution, especially leading up to it.

Overall, the French Revolution occured because of horrendous treatment of the third estate. Unfair taxation, an obvious bias towards the upper classes, and an inadequacy of change for the better was what caused it to happen. Unfortunately, a vast amount of lives were lost to this hopeless

Like modern day politics, 1790’s France had different groups with conflicting ideas on how their government should be run. In the French society, the rich wanted to stay rich and not have to deal with taxes and other responsibilities. The poor people in the society realized this was happening and declared they wanted change. The difference of opinions created a lot of conflicts because each group both had strong opinions on how the country should be run. For example, he was a very stupid because he did not lead the country properly because he was more interested in making clocks rather than ruling the country and that lead to his wife to interfere with the running of the country and had gained more power than she already had.

There were two Revolutions that are connected, The French Revolution and the American Revolution. The American Revolution came first, and the French Revolution was inspired by the American Revolution. George Washington was one of the main leaders in the American revolution.
