The first Industrial Revolution took place in Britain between 1760 and 1830. The Industrial Revolution began it Britain because the workers were relatively well educated and possessed many craft skills (“The First Industrial Revolution: Why It Started In Britain”). This revolution changed society in a negative way, due to the long hours, monotonous labor, and even child labor in the factories.
Technology and inventions were the foundation of the Industrial revolution and had major impacts on the people and society. Technology during the Industrial revolution changed how things were done and how people worked. Many industries such as transportation, energy sources, and manufactured goods were transformed and modernized due to the use of technology. Machines became faster, stronger, and were able to do things that humans couldn’t have ever done alone. As depicted in Hibert, Platt & Son’s cotton machines the picture shows what the textile machines can do with the use of a steam or waterwheel.
Industrialization was the key to the modern United States. Immigrants, who migrated from their countries and came to America to seek a new life. The United States was known as the Gilded Age. This came to be from the experiences of workers and residents in New York City, or urban cities. The transition to machine producing factories changed America completely. The Industrial Revolution and the Lowell system impacted America by creating opportunity for the rise of the working class, an expansion of the workforce, and the achievements of labor unions. The Industrial Revolution gave room for the social emergence of the working class and a new opportunity for self-independence among Americans. Before the Industrial Revolution, people had to be trained in a special field and worked in that field. Occupations such as craftsmen, artisans, and skilled workers spent years in apprenticeship to earn a living.

America got the idea to construct them at home when they visited England and saw the impressive drop of shipping costs when it was done by railroads instead of by carriage, nearly a 60%-70% decrease. The first railroads in America were extremely successful. However, attempts to finance new ones failed at first because of the opposition that was created by stagecoach companies, canal companies, turnpike operators and many inkeepers
The Industrial revolution was a time of great change for the world. It was a time where we started replacing homemade products for machine made products. We exchanged quality for quantity and the first time we saw mass production. Along with these changes, also came a change in working conditions and workers. The Industrial Revolution brought on a time where working conditions were miserable, hours were unthinkable, and the ages of children were unreal.
