Jacob Dunlap Ms. Holt Honors English 3/30/23 Who is to Blame for Romeo and Juliet’s Death Many people can be responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The people that are to blame are responsible for their deaths because they had to be secretive and told what to do. Mercutio is one of the biggest suspects because he is the fault for Romeo and Juliet’s meeting. If they had never met then their tragic deaths would have never occurred. Mercutio insists that since Rosaline doesn’t love Romeo the way that he loves her, he should try to find a different girl. Mercutio convinces Romeo to go to the ball and Romeo meets Juliet and they both fall madly in love with each other. And don’t want to leave each other's sight. He helped keep the relationship a secret from the young lovers’ parents. He is the one that got them married and kept it a secret from the rest of the town. And it ended up with Juliet going to marry Paris but she ran away and Friar Lawrence gave Juliet poison that knocked her out for a certain amount of time and everyone thought that she was dead. Friar Lawrence was the only one that knew she was still alive. He wrote a letter to Romeo which was never sent out and Romeo didn’t get the real truth of what happened. So Romeo got his horse and rode back to Verona. On the way, he stopped at a drugstore and gave the poor apothecary a bunch of money for the strongest poison that he had and explained to him that money was poison itself. Then he was off on his way to his wife to kill himself. When he got to the tomb, Paris was there, and then he and Paris fought to the death until Romeo finally killed Paris and threw his body in with Juliet. Soon after that, Romeo drank the poison and died in the coffin lying next to Juliet. Afterward, Friar Lawrence came and saw that it was almost time for Juliet to wake up, and he saw Romeo lying dead next to Juliet, she became conscious and saw that Romeo and Paris were both dead in her coffin.
