Even though the date and time of the events are different, in both events men were able to step up and take advantage of fear and hatred to turn it into suspicion and paranoia. During the time of the Red Scare attack, the U.S became afraid that communist especially from Russia and China would spread throughout the modern world. The First Red Scare The seventh of November 2017 is a 100 year celebration since the Russian Bolshevik Revolution. 1917 was the year that changed the history of Russia dramatically; however, the revolution postponed the imprint on the overall world. The ability of Bolsheviks to get the power in Russia threatened the capitalistic style of life of other countries. In addition, the Bolshevistic government was planning the aggressive foreign policy in order to spread socialistic views all over the world. With this case, democratic governments headed by the USA showed Red Scare towards that situation.
Communism doesn’t seem to be that bad by definition, but the Soviet Union had a very strong control over its empire. A strong central government means that the government has even more control over people’s lives. The United States feared the spread of communism since the Soviet Union’s empire was only expanding after WWII. With the use of proper propaganda, it was possible to convince the American people that communism is an evil form of government. Not only did the U.S make Russians be seen as terrible people, but knowing how much power the Soviet Union had over its civilians translated the idea to the American people that Communism is what takes away the civil liberties of human beings.
