From Boston to Devastation
“We are Boston Strong”(Buzzfeed). On April 15, 2013, two terrorist created bombs to go off at the Boston Marathon finish line to injure and kill people. To add on, the two bombers names are identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. They were born in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan, but later became a U.S Citizen in 2012. The Boston Marathon Bombing occurred causing tragedy, and to break this tragedy down further is through the plot, the attack, the manhunt, and the victims.
First, the Boston Marathon Bombing had a plot to enforce bombs to go off at the finish line of the race. According to History, “Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, described by classmates as a popular student, became a naturalized U.S. citizen on September 11, 2012. His older brother, a community college dropout who was frequently unemployed, had a green card but was not an American citizen”(History). Subsequently, this kid was popular, what happened to him that caused this to happen is weird. History states, “The blasts instantly turned the sun-filled afternoon into a gruesome scene of destruction and chaos. Three spectators died: a 23-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy, while more than 260 other people were wounded. An Oklahoma State Trooper noticed a missing license plate on a yellow Mercury Marquis conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle that was pulled over was Timothy McVeigh, who was about 80 miles north of Oklahoma City at the time of the stop. It was like a combat area; over 300 buildings nearby were also damaged. McVeigh was arrested 90 minutes after for carrying a firearm and was already in FBI possession. Officials also that the men by the name of Michael Fortier and Terry Nichols were involved, knew about everything McVeigh was going to do, and even helped the plan financially. Fortier and McVeigh had a close relationship that always seemed to be on the edge of the law. Fortier sold many guns and stole materials to help the bomb be made.
This explosion left 168 people dead and many more injured. The one aspect that all the victims had in common was that they were all innocent civilians affected by the bombing. This act of terrorism seemed so random that it left everyone was asking why and who had committed this horrendous act. Timothy Mcveigh with the help of a former roommate of his, Terry Nichols, constructed a homemade bomb which was implanted in the Ryder truck.

The man responsible for this horrendous event was man by the name of Timothy McVeigh ("Timothy McVeigh Biography", 2016). Timothy McVeigh was your normal run of the mill citizen, growing up in the typical working class environment in rural New York, and joining the Army in 1988 ("Timothy McVeigh Biography", 2016).

The Oklahoma City bombing remains to be the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in the history of America. For instance he robbed a bank to raise money for an anti-government movement he and a couple of his associates started. He also robbed a gunsmith in Arkansas and stole some items from the Arizona National Guard. Assumptions Media press and reporters automatically assumed the bombing was the works of a middle-east terrorist. The bomb resembled many bombs that the middle-eastern terrorist used in the past, thought reporters. People were angered and said that all Muslim people in the country should be exiled or killed.
The Oklahoma City Bombing On April 19, 1995, a man named Timothy James McVeigh had planned to bomb the federal building in Oklahoma City in order to prove a point. He believed that what he did was a protest against the government and felt no remorse for his actions. McVeigh wasn't the only suspect who was a part of this attack. Two other men named Nichols and Fortier were also guilty of this crime.
The Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013 also had a huge impact on the United States. On this day, there was a bomb that went off at the finish line which killed three spectators and also wounded two hundred and sixty people (history.com) There was a manhunt after this happened to catch the suspects. It took them four days to find the first suspect which led to the rest of the suspect findings (history.com). Investigators found out that the plan for this attack was planned on their own and wasn’t connected to a terrorist organization in any way.
A bomb attacked occurred in New York City at Saturday night. The explosion injured 29 people in Manhattan. Andrew Cuomo, New York governor, claims that they will find the person or people who committed this violent act, and justice will be done. The bomb attack is seen as a terrorist act, but there are no evidence to prove it yet. There has to be more research done in order to identify the reason behind the bombing.
The Boston bombing took place on April 15th, 2013; the attack took place during the Boston marathon that normally takes place every year around the same time. I believe that the response that was given to such an event was exactly what was needed, and for the local authorities to shut down MBTA and many other things along with it was a smart move. Then calling in for restrictions on the airspace over Boston was a right decision for the safety of the citizens within the area, after that federal official Eric Holder called for all resources within the US Department of Justice. Now all these measures they decided to take were the right ones to take considering with what happened on September 11th 2001, which is something homeland security was aiming to avoid. another action that was taken so victims’ families could get information quickly was google using their person finder combining it with a disaster service under a log titled “Boston marathon explosions”.

Terrorist campaigns were climbing in decades prior to 9/11. A group of terrorists attacked New York’s World Trade Center on February 26, 1993. The aim of this attack was to drive two bomb loaded trucks into the basement of a building to bring down both of the towers of the World Trade Center. The mission was not accomplished, but the attack did kill six people. The organizer of this attack was Ramzi Yousef, whose uncle went on to be the operational commander of the attack at the World Trade Center on 9/11.
