The entire novel is about finding your voice and speaking up about something that traumatized you in the past. I believe that the author, Laurie Halse Anderson, wrote the novel to inspire girls of all ages to come forward and know they are not alone. Melinda, a freshman who just wanted to have fun the summer before her first year in high school, was raped
The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story.
His effect on his family has had a really bad impact because when they used to do normal family stuff like hunting or going out to eat he thinks of a way to kill himself and so now his family is afraid to go out because they might see death. Adam says, “I am a young boy who enjoys having fun with his family and friends in a small time to do but the only difference that separates me from all the others, I have killed myself 39 times.”. This book is a book that describes the life of a normal teenager that goes through normal things such as trying new things and falling in love but it’s not like a book that would you would read to see if it’s an adventure book. So in conclusion the book talks about a not so normal boy who has killed himself 39 times but not because he is a depressed hating life kid but there is nothing to do in his small town.
In the book are so many young teen girls who suffer from very real issues. There are characters with Anorexia, Substance abuse, Binge eating disorders, and more that could have been explored and healed to make a powerful novel. Instead
It's about a 16 year old girl named Neema Powell that gets kicked out of her house, because her moms boyfriend was a drunken pervert. She ends up staying with her boyfriend where she was unwanted. Neema forgot to grab her birth control at home and she didn't take it for two days. That lead to the decisions she had to make throughout the story. This book has very good twist and turns throughout the story.
This book had a strong message at the end of the book. I personally can not relate to this book but I really enjoyed reading it. Stargirl was home schooled and started real school in the 10th grade. Stargirl was a new student in school, and she was a very different from everyone else.
The novel follows Stevie an eleven year old girl who lives in Southside Chicago throughout her middle and high school years. Stevie goes through the social pressure of her peers and family to tell her how to act, think, and look. Slowly throughout
The book shows us how she gets over that grief and finds joy in
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and
I also agree with the opinion that suffering might never end, like the novel indicates through imagery at the very end. The author manages to combine happy moments with sad ones even though the sad ones takes the larger share. In addition, he accomplished his aim of having an audience that is glued to the book all along sine it is both engaging and informative. The author has a perception that the world is composed of more bad things than the good ones. This novel will be important to me as I explore the themes of post-apocalyptic fears and human struggles.
The protagonist has a choice of life or death and the whole book is her trying to decide. After I read the hook I couldn’t just stop reading, I had to know what the ending was. I
And finally as everyone around her starts to turn she realizes that she has to find out who or what is behind all this. And Lastly what this story has to teach people, the negativitys and the dangers of the internet, especially in today's society, everyone is on some type of social media on the internet that anyone can be on, there are hackers everywhere just waiting to get your information. You have to be very aware of people and what you’re logging on too. The way that this deviates from the conventions is people’s different points of views like some people may think it is a great book like myself, and others may think that it is horrible and doesn’t live up to the expectations that it plants in your mind.
He would sometimes wait for me to get done with school to pick on me. He used to call me mean names when we walked passed each other as he shoved me like it was on accident, even though I knew he did it on purpose and that he intended to hurt my feeling. One day he would say he was my friend if I gave him an answer or two but the next he would act like nothing even happened the day before. He treated me like I was trash left to be feeling like I was the only person in this world that had a “Friend” like that.
