The poppet valves are the most common use in engine nowadays, determination of valves number of engine is happen by the number of combustion chamber and it’s depend on the air-fuel mixture and exhaust amounts so not all engines have the valves number , Poppet valves takes this name because its motion mechanism when it open and close by popping up and popping down also according to its shape some people called mushroom valves because it’s consist of head in the end of it and long stem, there are a lot of advantages for poppet valves which make it the most common used valves in engines world those advantages are easy of maintaining , free motion of stem and the self-centering, in any combustion chamber there are two types of valves , valves for intake and valves for exhaust designers of valves consider the difference between speed of exhaust and speed of air-fuel mixture to make the exhaust valve smaller than the other valve because the speed of exhaust and pressure are larger than speed and pressure of air-fuel
