“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding,” Albert Einstein. Most people living in civilised and safe countries take peace for granted. The “common man and women” has lived their normal lives without any worry for decades, even though war and terror have roamed the earth for centuries. People have become too inexperienced to value peace enough. Nevertheless countries and their citizens desperately try to maintain peace and stay out of conflict by investing billions of dollars in their militaries, taking part in organisations, and some even intentionally taking part in war so that peace could prevail. Most of the countries with international status invest billions of dollars from their yearly budget into their militaries. Funding more arms, ammo, armoured vehicles, missiles and nuclear weapons, which makes it seems like everyone is preparing for war and not for peace. The current situation resembles the arms race before World War 1, as nations enlarge their forces to compete for pride and ego. As these nations struggle with ceasefire, a minority of the countries intentionally try to engage in war, so that they would gain temporary peace. The saying “War is peace” by George Orwell in 1984 also applies today in countries like the USA, as they take part in preemptive wars, like the wars of Afghanistan, ISIL and North-West Pakistan, to distract the nation from its internal problems and to gain approval towards the government. Countries also join and participate in organisations and associations, like the Commonwealth and the UN, to maintain peace and harmony around the world. These organisations try to resolve conflicts, create peace, sustain it and build a solid base for it to grow properly and safely. Moreover, these organisations usually understand when and how to aid countries to preserve peace and a steady economic growth, because they make these decisions carefully and with the influence of many different parties.
