Is money really that important? The novel “The Westing Game” written by Ellen Raskin follows 16 random individuals as they receive a perfect offer; a luxury apartment, in a prime location, for an extremely low price. Thus they all accept their offers for apartments at Sunset Towers. It is later revealed that these 16 people are heirs to Samuel W. Westing's $200 million fortune and his paper company. To access their inheritance, they must compete to find Sam Westing’s murderer.
In A Raisin in The Sun there is certainly a lot of loss to go through, as well as many different and opposing values. Walter, for example, was obsessed with being able to provide for his family and have the money to show for it. In his attempts to achieve this goal he ends up bankrupting the family and leaving them much worse off than before, all through his own selfishness and sense of pride. Walter at first wants to open a liquor store with the money left over by his late father, figuring it would be a good way to get easy money for the family, though his family are against this idea.

Christmas Greed Greed is the one thing that everyone in the world has in common. Greed can cause cause someone to be selfish and hurt those around them as a result. Bad greed causes people and others around them to get hurt. Greed can change a person’s personality.
These are all traits that would describe Walter Lee and his actions. Walter Lee is a character from the play A Raisin in the Sun in which a black family tries to get out of poverty and go against stereotypes by trying to start over with their Grandpa’s life insurance money. A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry explores the concept that greed leads to being blinded by money and forgetting about one’s loved ones as shown by the climax of the play, the character of Walter Lee, and the effect that his actions have on the rest of his family. The Character of Walter Lee shows that greed blinding a person can cause him to forget about the ones he loves.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, shows how a greedy man turns from his life of cold-heartedness. Ebenezer Scrooge is the greedy man in the novel who values his money more than anyone or anything. His greed has caused many people to dislike him, even his employees find him cruel and cheap. He begins to change, however, when he is visited by his dead partner Jacob Marley. Marley warns Scrooge that three other Spirits will be visiting him throughout the night, and will help convince him to change his ways.
If people control their greed, they will be bountiful in other ways than wealth. They will have happiness in helping others by giving back, instead of keeping to oneself. The theme I created for Death and the Miser is “Greed will ultimately lead to your demise.” This theme shows how the Miser’s greed throughout his life led to his death. The miser was a fighter of some sort, but then he became a part of the church, shown by the rosary in his hand and the indulgences in his chest, which I believe were fake, and he was selling them.
