King Laius was to have his babies ankles pinned and put on a cliffside left to die. Oedipus was taken into another kingdom adopted by the king and queen not knowing they were his real parents. He soon finds out his fate to murder his father and lay with his mother; thinking he is larger than life flees to escape his destiny not knowing he was adopted. He then meets a man escorted by men who force him to move aside. In anger he kills them not realizing that one of the men was his father, the king.
Fearing that he would be over thrown Cronus decided to eat his children as they were born. Rhea tricked Cronus into eating a stone and hid her son Zeus from him on the island Crete. Once Zeus had grown up, he tricked his father Cronus into vomiting up his brothers and sisters. Another story would be the war between the Titans and Gods. After freeing his brothers and sisters, Zeus waged war with the Titans, though, some of the Titans sided with Zeus.
The demigod son of Zeus himself, Herakles would have to endure and complete eight labors to atone for killing his wife and children. Much did Heracles suffer during this time, killing his own wife and children after being driven mad by Zeus’s wife Hera out of spite. Herakles story is relatable to the struggles of man, more so the other Gods in the sense that Pathos is personified throughout his story. Even at the bitter end, Herakles is betrayed through trickery that ends with his demise. It was unlike any of the ancient civilizations to portray a God as having human or mortal essence.
“The Myth of Cronus” is about how Cronus overthrows his father, because his father is evil. Then Cronus hears that one of his own children will overthrow him so he swallows each one as soon as it is born. His wife/sister Rhea didn’t want him to swallow her last child, Zeus so she gave him a rock in the shape of a baby for him to swallow. So Rhea sent Zeus to live with mortals. When Zeus was older he freed his brothers and sisters.
One of these monsters is Grendel, who is a demon attacking King Hrothgar’s land and killing his subjects. Beowulf kills Grendel with his bare hands, and then the monster’s wicked mother, in revenge, attacks our hero, but Beowulf kills her. Towards the end of the epic, he is king of his own land, and he must attack a dragon. He wounds it, but Beowulf is slain in the fight and a monument is raised in this name. Some interpreters have seen it as Christian story.

The person who was sent to kill them couldn't handle the guilty conscience so decoded to only live them floating in the river.

The story oedipus rex is one fatal tragic with lots of twists and turns. Oedipus rex is a story about a kid who is born in the world in the city thebes and is born to the world with a horrible prophet. The oracle tells oedipus father king laius that his son will grow up and kill his father and marry his mother. Being told this king laius casted oedipus to the be killed by being thrown in the river but the shepherd had pity on the kid and pierced his ankles giving him the name oedipus. The nature of human will versus fate is the most important theme in oedipus rex by sophocles.
