BOOK REVIEW ON JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL About The Author Richard Bach David is an American author b0rn in 1936. He finished his studies in L0ng Beach in 1955. Soon after he finished school he joined the navy and the Nationa1 guard program. Also, he became a pilot in the Fighter Squadron USAF. After being a part of the army he started his writing career and his first three books were about flying a plane and they were a reflection of his love towards planes. They were named “Stranger to the ground, Biplane” and “Nothing by chance”. His book Jonathan Livingstone Seagull was published in 1970 and made him famous. This book of profound thought spans hardly a one hundred and fifty pages. Expressing his thoughts in strict, stark and simple sentences, Bach reminds one of Antoine de Saint Exupéry in The Little Prince. The …show more content…

At that point in time, this book inspired me to follow my dreams; in fact, it helped create quite a romantic in me. This was the first Bach I had read. After this book, I developed a certain admiration for Bach’s philosophy and went on to read various other works by Bach. So, personally, I would rate ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’ as one of those few books which grow upon you and linger on. This is a story for people who follow their hearts and make their own rules...people who get special pleasure out of doing something well, even if only for themselves...people who know there's more to this living than meets the eye: they’ll be right there with Jonathan, flying higher and faster than ever they dreamed. Jonathan Seagull, instead of fighting and screeching and diving like all the others, spends his time practicing to fly. He doesn't understand the practicality of such monotonous day-to-day activities. Rather, he attempts to perfect his flying abilities.
