Neftali Ricardo Eliecer Reyes Basoalto known by his pen name Pablo Neruda was born on July 12, 1904, in Parral, Chile. One month after he was born his mother, Rosa Basoalto died of Tuberculosis. Two years after, his father, Jose Del Carmen Reyes Morales moved to Temuco, Chile, and get married to Trinidad Cambia Marvede, who became in a real mother to Pablo, who described her as a sweet and diligent woman, had a pleasant sense of humor and an active and indefatigable kindness. His father was the driver of a train that carried stones. He used to take him to the wild heart of Boroa, Chile, where Pablo learned to love nature, and the land that saw him born. This was the inspiration of poems like La Araucaria, Ode to the apple (extract), and La Infinita (the infinite) where he refers to the trees, fruits, animals and its beauty: “Weeping, eternity of water, mountain of scales, ray of horseshoes, your tormented house is built / with petals of pure geology” he wrote about the little thing that most of us ignore today.

One year later, on November 30, the “Corre Vuela de Santiago” magazine, it published this poem “Mis Ojos” (my eyes) which it was inspired by the girl from the letter “I was yours, you were mine. What else? Together we did a bend in the path where love passed” he wrote.
By the end of the year, he published thirteen more poems in the same magazine using his pen name Pablo Neruda, the main reason why he did choose that name was that his father did not allow Neftalí to be a poet, that is when he decided to use a pen name. One day he read about an artist, badalas and love songs singer and writer, and loved by Chile, he found the name that would be part of the poetry

For report 5, I decided to choose Vicente Fernandez interpretation of, “México Lindo y Querido “ because Vicente Fernandez is my mother’s favorite artist. As I was growing up, Vicente Fernandez was an artist my mother always played around me, so I also chose him because I am familiar with his singing style of voice. The song, “México Lindo y Querido” translates to ‘Mexico, beautiful and beloved’ the name of the song refers to pride of Mexico, so the song is characterized as a nationalistic song. The composer of, “México Lindo y Querido “ was written by Chucho Monge. Vicente Fernandez has excellent control of exhalation, he releases the sound in one breath.
Wordsworth and Muir express their fascination with nature using imagery and mood. In “Calypso Borealis”, John Muir states that he finds himself “glorying in the fresh cool beauty and charm of the bog and meadow heathworts, grasses, carices, ferns, mosses, liverworts displayed in boundless profusion” (Muir). The words “boundless profusion” appeals to the sense of sight and helps us imagine the scene and all the bountiful natural beauty of the place. The image shows Muir’s relationship with nature because it demonstrates his overwhelming, nearly spiritual, experience with nature. In the poem “I wandered lonely as a cloud”,
In the poem “Green Chile” by Jimmy Santiago Baca the author shows us how his culture relates to why he loves green chile it brings back memories about his family. “When I visit her she holds the green chile pepper in her wrinkled hands “. His parents also got sick and he had to take care of them since he was the only one left there,”... two of my brothers had been killed in the war…” He then married a women who gave him a beautiful family. In the poem, the speaker and his father “argue about the price of pomegranates” (Salinas 4) and he tries to convince his father that “it is the fruit of scholars” (Salinas 7). Conversely, his father believes that his son should simply “eat more oranges” (Salinas 11). Pomegranates and oranges have absolutely different features which symbolizes two types of lifestyle, one is complex and well educated as a writer, the other one is simple and poor educated as a worker. Meanwhile, in the short story “A Secret Lost in the Water”, even though the narrator’s father has a strong desire to pass on his traditional skill, using an alder bough to find “spring beneath the earth” (Carrier 2) as a portion of vital household wealth through generations, the narrator has a great passion for literature and much later, he becomes a writer. This underground spring is a significant clue in the story which symbolizes an old wisdom, a part of family heritage and a close relationship between two generations.
Comparative Essay How can different perceptions about one topic be expressed in poetry? The main theme that the two sets of poems convey is war, but it’s expressed in different point of views through the use of diction that builds tone. The tones of these poems play a big role in conveying the differences between the different eras that these poems are written in, and shows how societies have changed from the Victorian era till the time of World War I. The diction and tone in Borden and Owen’s poems is so much different than the diction and tone in Lovelace and Tennyson’s poems due to different perspectives and point of views. In all four poems the main idea is war, but each set conveys a perspective of war, a positive perspective
Leilah Smith Dr. Cothren English II G March 1, 2018 Behind the Scenes: The Blissfulness of Nature Nature is a pure and natural source of renewal, according to Romantics who frequently emphasized the glory and beauty of nature throughout the Romantic period. Poets, artists, writers, and philosophers all believe the natural world can provide healthy emotions and morals. William Wordsworth, a notorious Romantic poet, circles many of his poems around nature and its power including his “The World is Too Much With Us” and “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.”
Nature is a beautiful component of planet earth which most of us are fortunate to experience; Ralph Waldo Emerson writes about his passion towards the great outdoors in a passage called Nature. Emerson employs metaphors and analogies to portray his emotions towards nature. Emerson begins by writing, “Our age is retrospective. It builds the sepulchres of the fathers.” , this is a metaphor for how we think; all our knowledge is based on what is recorded in the olden days and a majority of our experiences are vicarious instead of firsthand encounters.
The agony the writer is feeling about his son 's death, as well as the hint of optimism through planting the tree is powerfully depicted through the devices of diction and imagery throughout the poem. In the first stanza the speaker describes the setting when planting the Sequoia; “Rain blacked the horizon, but cold winds kept it over the Pacific, / And the sky above us stayed the dull gray.” The speaker uses a lexicon of words such as “blackened”, “cold” and “dull gray” which all introduce a harsh and sorrowful tone to the poem. Pathetic fallacy is also used through the imagery of nature;
