The subject interested me so much that I went back to school to study the science of happiness, and now I teach the subject at NYU. Happiness doesn’t necessarily mean you have a smile on your face. It’s more of a mixing board with several different dials: positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement. Everyone’s mixing board is set differently. There’s no one way to be happy and there’s no wrong way to be happy.
There is no doubt that The Dream Team excelled in this beyond expectations. All members in the group including the author (Member A) provided social support for one and another regarding class work and even personal life support. For example, the group members always communicated outside of class and during times of stress due to upcoming exams, the members worked together to keep each other motivated and provided emotional support. The CIHI, an independent non-profit corporation states that positive interaction and emotional support predict improvements in times of distress (CIHI, 2012), and so by achieving this, group members will feel better off to view things in a positive light. Informational support is evident in The Dream Team.
As a DNP, beginning of the project I felt very alone, but as I connected to other disciplines outside of the department of nursing, my attitude keeps changing. This is due to all the outstanding encouragement and support that I have received throughout this project. Everyone wants each student to be successful meeting their goals. Learning Outcomes e. Discuss how participation in the practicum experiences discussed above relate/will assist you in meeting the learning outcomes you have identified for this course.
Aside from the previous things, I feel that I possess the personality type to succeed and contribute at Gatton. Throughout my life, I’ve been able to demonstrate that I possess the drive and the dedication needed to get the job done. I’ve always been diligent and focused when it comes to academia though I’m able to chill out and crack jokes like any other teenager. Some people ask how I balance everything, but it’s been easy for me.
My friends always know how to make me feel happy and grateful for the littlest things. My friends also teach me that I should notice the small things in life. I am very grateful that I have friends and a family who challenge me to be a better person and live a better life. I believe what makes a life worth living is learning from mistakes, learning about life, and growing as a person, and my family and friends teach and challenge me with this
? Despite the fading wonder and magic of childhood, I take pride with the knowledge that my imagination and my ability to create and manipulate have remained with me throughout my growing years. My mind, with its flexibility and tendency for chaos and spontaneity, has helped me adapt to the buzzing of my school life allowing me to learn easily by adapting my mind to match that of the material involved and allowing me to create friends with the vibrancy of my thoughts and persona. My childhood allowed me to adapt to my environment and gave me the freedom to acquaintance myself with the world around me. ?
Member, National Honors Society, As an active member of National Honors Society one of our main tenets of leadership is building a strong presence in the community as a whole-school or otherwise. This manifested into offering after school tutoring in math and science areas where the school struggles in terms of college readiness. I was initially apprehensive, wondering if people would show up after school to study. But, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people willing to take charge of their own learning and taking the after school tutoring extra help. Because I was actively tutoring students I was able to improve my own knowledge of the course material and continuously learn and improve myself.
Making time is the key though, eating lunch with students, playing with them at recess (like kickball), having classroom meetings, and making little moments in between transitions. I believe in building up our students, for example, I gave them positive feedback on a final writing piece. Classroom management is important skills to have a teacher, but each class you have will have respond to different techniques better. I believe that my management skills still needs work and I know it will get better with the more experience I have. I used techniques like ringing a bell, clapping, saying if you can hear my voice clap once, listing expectations, and pointing out specific behaviors I was looking
It gives the reader the message that the students that are underestimated could actually succeed and gives a sense of satisfaction to see the students have a better life with the help of a teacher that made them feel different than any other teacher. Even if the movie is not realistic to many people. The students were given an opportunity to reach their teachers goal and they succeeded. The Hollywood Model: Who Is The Good Teacher? Jaime Escalante also did the same thing that LouAnne did in Dangerous Minds by getting involved in personal level, encouraging their intellectual growth and encouraging their families to keep their children at
And you must be mentally ready that not every day is going to be a good day in the classroom.” This had me realizing that teachers, put in so much of their time for their students and sometimes are not appreciated and given the credit they deserve. Besides the negative parts that can possibly occur she also explained how there are days where everything is going smoothly and there is so much cooperation and participation going on in class. With that being said I believe that although this career seems easy, teachers need to be mentally and emotionally prepared for each and every day in the
The best part of this English class was all the participation everyone had given. One advantage about returning back to college later in my life was that it does have a great sense of purpose and more focused in my studies. As we all age we have more lifetime experience and knowledge of the new material being presented. Of the record, thank you for being such a fun, caring individual of an instructor. One could see how everyone in the class had a lot of respect for you.
Roles like timekeeper, table leaders, and recorders. These jobs kept the students on task throughout the entire process and also made them more involved in the learning process. He also created a very positive learning environment by creating little phrases as a class. This is a fun way to have a bond with the students so that they can be involved with the learning process and also know when to move from one activity to the next. He also makes sure his students understand the directions by simply having them
It mentions how happy he was when he finally was able to understand a specific concept. I think this book would do wonders for a student struggling in that area. Also you could use a Venn digram to compare the characters: Richard and Emily, Richard and Drake, Ms. Rooney and Mrs. Paris. The characters in the book are defined very well and the students would benefit from analyzing them. The book could be used to discuss being friendly, kind, and promote no bullying.
These students at Hope Academy all have disabilities and taking extra time out of your day will help them develop learning skills and also help them become more sociable. From all the information given about Hope Academy I knew what to expect as soon as I walked in. To be honest I actually got more than what I expected from volunteering there, the students actually taught me something. While volunteering you can tell that everyone there loves their job and enjoys every bit of developing the students. I am very grateful for Mrs. Pam introducing me to Hope Academy and giving me an amazing opportunity to work with those awesome children.
