According to Tatum, prejudice is “preconceived judgment or opinion, usually based on limited information” (Tatum 67). While racism is the belief that one’s race is superior to another. Prejudice is derived from limited information and is formed based on beliefs or misconceptions of others.

It was during the World War II and I understand that we wanted to win, but the US was blinded and didn’t see that they were going to kill many innocent lives. The US only cared about winning and they were going to destroy anything that got in their way; even people that didn’t have anything to do with this.

In the health and social care settings, the service the clients receive is vital and should be met at a high standard. This sometimes is not if they are judged by their background, upbringing, race, culture, religion and even sex resulting to discrimination. So it is very essential to implement anti-discriminatory practices in order to eliminate discrimination but there are difficulties associated in the implementation of these anti-discriminatory practices within the health and social care setting. Institutionalized discrimination against homosexuals stems from systemic stereotypical beliefs, where negative stereotypes and discrimination are the norm. For example in some Middle Eastern countries it’s normal to imprison a homosexual. Here in America it’s almost twice as hard for a minority homosexual man to be open in corporate America, depending on what state you live in. In more liberal states such as California, it may be more acceptable. However, in southern states such as Georgia, that behavior is shunned and not openly talked about.

Racism has been in our world for a lifetime. Race has been the key component in separating humans around the world. It has been the leading cause of political and economic conflict.
After a troublesome and torrid time, the black people or what so called slaves, were entering the 20th century with hope of not being discriminated after the slavery had been abolished in the late 19th century. The beginning of 20th century had overseen the stampede of worldwide immigrants to America as they seek for a better life. As for African-Americans, they were entering the phase where they found themselves almost identical with the past century despite the slavery being abolished. Though the abolishment of slavery was written in the 13th Amendment, some of the states still legalized it. They were still in the same position as they were before in some of the states in America.

Even in the most modern and civilized of societies discrimination prevails in forms numerous and indirect. In a most modern society, where we humans call ourselves advanced and rational, here is a story of a man whose life was shaped by indifference to his racial identity.

A Conflict Theorist defines prejudice by examining the existing conditions, and they determine inequalities of different racial and ethnic groups. The viewpoint of a Conflict Theorist on prejudice would be trying to incorporate why people racially discriminate causing prejudice and social divisions. Firstly, a Conflict Theorist would say that prejudice leads individuals to think their race is somehow better than others.

Supervisors are not aware of the Hispanic culture and Spanish Language. The work instructions are not in simple Spanish. Employee do not like to speak up considering is “distrustful” the supervisor.
Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001, United States awakened to the tragic events occurring in New York City. The nation came to a stop as hijacked planes collided into the country’s beloved Twin Towers, crumbling down within the matter of seconds. 15 years ago, the United States faced a major terrorist attack, with over 3,000 deaths and evidently bringing out the rage within the citizens. However, targets of revenge for this situation are faced by Sikh Americans, who still experience discrimination with their physical appearance in the nation today. Within the United States, the media limits the coverage Sikh Americans experience on a daily basis, and essentially undermining the discrimination that many of them still face today.
So essentially a person’s adverse attitude toward someone is prejudice and a person’s biased action toward someone is discrimination. There are misinterpretations about stereotypes that make it seem as these made categorized groups as a bad thing, but there is always a little truth in every
