The National Urban League was founded more than a century ago on September 29, 2010, primarily by Dr. George Edmund Haynes and Ruth Standish Baldwin. They are the largest community-based organization in the country, but they originally started as a small group trying to give voice to those that were oppressed: African Americans. To understand the importance of the initial grassroots movement of the National Urban League, one must first place into context the dangerous climate of America in the early twentieth century. Segregation was still allowed in many states, and it was only with the advent of civil rights laws did African Americans begin to make inroads in America society. The main goal of the National Urban League in the 1920s was to provide employment for African Americans in the urban cities, as many of them lived in poverty and homelessness.
What the Patriot Act does is it provides us with a tool to strengthen the ability that the government has to stop terrorist attacks from happening on U.S. soil. What the act does is remove obstacles to investigate terrorism, it has made stricter laws for terrorist any one that might have aided them, it has allowed information between law enforcement to be easier to share, and it has also updated laws to keep in pace with the advances in technology (Anderson). As every other subject concerning a topic such as this, which not only affects a group of people but an entire nation, there is controversy and opposition. The question is wheather or not the Patriot Act has really worked to stop terrorism. As data compiled by The Heritage
Since 1909 The NAACP is a non profit organization that deal with minorities in hate crimes, help with financial aid for college and racial profiling that aid people who fall into this group. Donating money to the NAACP would be donating to the people who have been discriminated against and can 't do anything because of their financial background, for the people who have bad health programs because of their financial situation. Would you discriminate against someone because they don 't look the same as you? In 1954 african americans were just beginning to be able to go into schools that were in suburbs primarily for whites. The case Brown vs. Board is an example of the NAACP aiding minorities when they were being discriminated against.

During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s women’s suffrage was a huge epidemic in the United States along with the rest of the world. Not only was the United States in the fight for women’s rights, so were places like London, Australia, and even the Bahamas. Women’s suffrage was fighting the right for women to be able to vote within their territory. Women’s suffrage has been going on for centuries and is still a problem within the community that has switched over to gender equality. But was the Civil Rights Movement blinding the issues in the Bahamas?
The PATRIOT Act is a defile of Americans civil rights and it needs to be ended. One main reason the PATRIOT Act needs to be stopped is that it's a huge invasion of privacy. Most Americans keep very sensitive and important information on phones, and it's likely that that information will be discussed over the phone where the government has access to anything said during these calls. The private lives of American citizens is not what the government should concern themselves with.
The decade of the 1960s is remembered as one of the most turbulent times of Americanhistory. The decade, from riots to assassinations, was filled with violent disorder and confusion. Even with opposition and disagreement all over the United States, some movements took apeaceful, nonviolent approach with one of the most well-known and successful being the CivilRights Movement. The African American Civil Rights movement was a nonviolent fight for equal rights forAfrican Americans after years of mistreatment and segregation. The ultimate goal of themovement was to gain the rights of an American citizen.
“I go further, and affirm that bills of rights, in the sense and to the extent in which they are contended for, are not only unnecessary in the proposed Constitution, but would even be dangerous.” (Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist #84) The Bill of Rights, which were constructed by federalist, James Madison, are the first ten amendments in the constitution. During the New Nation era, when the Constitution was being ratified, the anti-federalist deemed it gave the central government too much power, very much so like a king. They wanted something else to ensure their rights and liberties were being protected, so the Bill of Rights comes in because it gave them extra security they sought.
The Reconstruction period was a brutal time period for America in order to fix the things destroyed during the Civil War, but it was overall worth it. There were many good things about Reconstruction, but also bad. I personally believe that there were more good things than bad. One negatives is that the slaves weren’t really free meaning they didn’t have completely equal rights, but this was the start of the Civil Rights movement that shaped our country. One of the things that all started movement towards Civil Rights was the 13th Amendment.
The early 1900s were a time of widespread social and political change in America. During this time, many Americans adopted new, more modern ideas about labor, cultural diversity and city life. Some of these Progressive ideas were brought about by the need for reform in the workplace due to the grown of large companies and rapid industrialization. Not everyone supported the ideas of the Progressive Movement, however. Anti-Progressives, especially in the South, preferred traditional, rural lifestyles, and a slower, simpler way of living.

James Madison took most of the lead when creating this document. He wrote out a list of all the rights that a United States citizen should have.
