For this week's readings, I found the "Notes on the State of Virginia" by Thomas Jefferson to be the most frustrating and shocking to read. I say it was tough to read because it truly contradicted itself. It was very racist but is was written to justify racism. It was shocking because of how in depth he went in to explaining black skin, smell, and etc. He mention how blacks love is more physical and lustful with no really meaning (not from the soul). To make matter worst, he said an orangutan would rather pick a black women over his own species. Of course there are different groups of people and we look very different from one another but he tried really hard to distinguish black as being its own race. He needed to be reminded that are all
