If Bud not Buddy was in modern times than Buds mother wouldn't be have died. Because we have hospitals that you could take her to. Also, we have doctors and offices to take her. Finally, there is medicine for her to take home. Or have a home health nurse to come and checkup. On her every Wednesday and Thursday. Bud not Buddy is a story about a 10-year-old boy whose mom died. So, he was sent to a home but a family. Called the amoses takes him from the foster home. The family is actually evil, Bud does escape from then. Bud goes to find his father first he goes to a missionary for food. Bud goes to the library for help then he found his friend bugs and they rode a train. There's no segregation and all blacks and whites are equal.
Bud, Not Buddy would be a different book the police would have caught him when he ran away and Bud had to be forced to go to school. And Then the band would have went
One example of the racism he faces was when he was abused by the Amoses. The Dusky Devastators had a lot of trouble pulling in money during their shows because of the Great Depression. —------------------ Bud, the protagonist of the story, is a ten year old boy who is struggling with finding his family after his mother leaves evidence that he still has family left. Angela Janet Caldwell, Bud’s Mother, before the book starts when Bud was six years old. The Amoses adopted Bud when he was ten, but showed how cruel they could be when they locked Bud in the shed full of bugs for the night.
However, he already lost his mom when he was six years old. In Chapter 1-5 Bud talks about his mom dies. If Bud mom didn’t die or if was written in modern era the story would be different. Buds mom would have medicine and wouldn’t die.
Similarly, in "The Pursuit of Happyness," the main character Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) finds himself homeless and without any source of income, forcing him and his son to spend nights in shelters or public restrooms. Chapter 10 of Bud, Not Buddy sees Bud being taken in by Lefty Lewis, who helps him get a job and earn money. This is similar to how Chris Gardner eventually lands a job as a stockbroker trainee after a series of struggles and rejections, which helps him turn his life around. Finally, in chapter 11 of Bud, Not Buddy, Bud's newfound joy at being part of a jazz band is short-lived as he is accused of stealing a musician's trumpet. This parallels a scene in "The Pursuit of Happyness" where Chris Gardner's life takes a turn for the worse after his bosses falsely accuse him of stealing a scanner.

The principal ask if he believes that blacks are inferior and he says he does not. Then Wernicke says “it comes out under pressure I suppose” and Dadier responds “I suppose so”. In this scene, two white men are confessing the reality of race in America on the outside they are “colorblind” but deep inside the feelings of black inferiority is ingrained in their psyche and this alters the way they interact with

Tons of children and adults were very mistreated because of their race in the 1930s. Bud, not Buddy is about a 10-year-old boy that is black. He gets very mistreated because of his race. His mother died when he was 6-years-old and was in an orphanage. He goes a long way to find his dad, but who he expected was his dad was his grandpa.
This is our first look at the seperation of races. At this elementary school, there is a large presence of black children. The students refer to Dennis, a particular young child, as “the only white kid in our school,” (Packer 4). When the group of white girls, also known as Brownie troop #909, arrive to the school, the black girls see them as being so different. They even compare
This shows how authentic human interaction causes them to be happy. In the film after Betty gets painted naked on the window a group of boys start to harass her. Then Bud came and punches one of them. After doing so Bud turns colored. The feeling that changes him was anger and this may be considered a bad emotion to have, but to feel true happiness there needs to be negative feelings too.
I enjoyed the comical and lighthearted dancing and singing approach the characters had to the somber situations around them. Watching this few years later and after taking a Text and Meaning course, I was struck at the sheer amount of things that stood out. The Negroes were declared “other”. In post colonialist theory, declaring one race “other” marginalizes them and stresses on how
The film starts out with an African American man walking in the suburbs. He sees a car and is frightened. A person in a hood strangles him from behind and kidnaps him. This illustrates the fear African Americans have in a white society. The movie then fasts forwards to New York City and turns the focus on Chris who is a successful young photographer.
The short story “Roommates” by Linda Heuring revolves around OB and Brad, who are roommates. It touches subjects as jealousy, prejudice and being different. The short story also focusses on how the people you acquaint yourself with influence your behavior. Brad’s friends talk bad about OB, which clearly bothers him, but in the end he takes part in destroying some of OB’s most cherished possessions. This is a result of the friends’ influence mixed with alcohol and jealousy.
