The Black Panther Party was created by two African Americans, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, in 1966. Their hope was to create this party to protect the people of their community from police brutality and they eventually involved into a Marxist revolutionary group. The Black Panther Parties name originated for self-defense. The Black Panther symbolizes courage and strength. During this time, Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X had a big impact dealing with race equality and minorities. Although King was assassinated he will always be known as a prominent figure in the civil rights movement. He was a civil rights activist.
