In 1803, Thomas Jefferson made the most controversial purchase regrading to the constitution. The Louisiana Purchase went against everything Jefferson believed in. Jefferson faced heat from both parties whether it was to accept or that he will be a hypocrite for accepting it. With this purchase Jefferson made the best decision of his time because of all the benefits the land gave the country. Thomas Jefferson was the direct definition of an anti-federalist.
In the time during Westward Expansion was the time of new beginnings in America and it was time to move forward in land. America wanted to be superior to the rest of the countries around them. They went through many challegements to buy Louisiana Territory and explore its land around it as well. The country even almost went into bankruptcy and was almost sold to the French, but hopefully that did not happened. They even with success of land came trouble with greedy with expansion.
When Thomas Jefferson was introduced on March of 1801, he received troubled relations with Barbary states, and the Ottoman Regencies of the Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli, and along with independent Morocco. The U.S. Had treaties with all four of them, but tension was high and rising. The American representatives in the region wanted an American Navy presence. They regularly, is less spoken, echoed the 1793 view of their worker in Lisbon, they said When we can appear in the Ports of the various Powers, or on the Coast, of the Barbary, with their ships of such force as to talk those nations that We are able to protect our trade, and to control them if necessary to keep faith with Us, then, and not before that, We may probably secure a big share
The purchasing of the Louisiana Territory promoted Jefferson’s vision for the country because his plans for this nation depended on western expansion as well as access to the international markets for American farmer products. His vision was threatened when France gained control of Louisiana. Napoleon threatened to block American access to the New Orleans port. Napoleon, for a number of reasons, most to do with money, offered the Louisiana territory to the US for a minimal amount. The US now owning the Louisiana territory more than doubled its size overall.
Thomas Jefferson was able to make one of the largest recorded purchases of land, doubling the size of the US overnight. But how did he do it? He was a strongly anti-federalist, so it did not make sense for him to make such a federalist move. In 1803 the US purchased the Louisiana territory (an 800,000 square mile piece of land) from france for 15 million dollars.
Thomas Jefferson imagined an America where everyone owned land and grew their own crops. Alexander Hamilton wanted an America where it was all business and everyone made lots of money for the government. These are the reason why. Thomas Jefferson wanted an agriculture country for these reasons. He wanted everyone to own land and grow their own crops.
Thomas Jefferson viewed western expansion as an opportunity to open trade with Indians of the west and find a water route to the Pacific ocean. Jefferson was fascinated with the discovery of the west and wanted to map out the new acquired territory before any European nation could claim it as their own. Not only was Jefferson interested in the territory, he wanted to build relations with the Indian tribes of the west and help them develop their agricultural methods and way of life. He sought to expand America to the west as a way to benefit both the Americans and the Native Americans. Thomas was given hope in paintings which shown a perfect picture of what Jefferson had in mind when thinking of an Agrarian Society; it was the self-sufficient, independent farmers. When the Missouri Compromise in 1820 was produced and was sustained and maintained the balance between free and slave states; the division in which determined what state was a free state or a slave state was 36* 30’ north latitude. This meant that the Louisiana Purchase was be mostly considered slave states in which is another accomplishment of Jefferson in 1803. Thomas Jefferson feared that all these contributions would prevent him from achieving his goal of establishing America as an Agrarian Republic. Jefferson shown concern of this in his letter of response to John Holmes- a politician from Massachusetts who sent a letter to Jefferson, giving him his support through his alike opinion concerning the Missouri Compromise.

Although America was haunted by war and conflict during its first hundred years as a free nation, there are many events that I will consider to be impressive that helped shape our country little by little. Although I was not familiar with a lot of the history of the churches during the colonial days (The Great Awaking) has really impressed me because it taught me how the Baptist congregation would grow from small numbers to larger numbers. It also explained to me how it expanded and that some of the pastors did not even have formal educations in order to preach. The next event involved Thomas Jefferson, whom I learn quite a lot about while conducting my research for my (American History in Video Project).

The Westward Expansion offered an opportunity to aid the growth of the United States and expand its borders. A deal that shaped the landscape of America as we’ve known it, and you ask who, how, and why it affected people negatively? A people that started making America their homes before the colonists came, the natives of America. The places they called home were gone, left, and forgotten, but America saw it as a way for industrialization. During America's growth the land was theirs monetarily, but spiritually it belonged to Native Americans, which America was too selfish, and naïve to be aware.
America had a dream of Manifest Destiny (O’Sullivan). Which they believe that God had set aside the entire North America for United States(Textbook). “Which later started the Westward movement”. During the time Native Americans tribes and Mexico had already had been inhabiting the area(Textbook). They would not leave without a fight.
