Oil palm was originated from West Africa. The need of palm oil in the market increase rapidly due to the British Industrial Revolution and the expansion of overseas trade. (“History and Origin | The Oil Palm,” n.d.). The oil palm plantation was entered Malaysia, which then known as Malaya, by the British in early 1870’s as a decorative plant. In 1917, he earliest commercial planting took place in Tennamaran Estate in Selangor. Then in the 1960, the government was proposed land settlement programme for planting oil palm. This programme is to extinguish destitution for the landless farmers and smallholders. In Malaysia, its oil palm plantations are based on the estate management and smallholder programme. After 30 months of planting, oil palm tree will begin producing fruits and will remain produce more fruits for the next 20 to 30 years. Palm trees may mature and it height might reach to sixty feet and more. Usually the oil palm tree is plant in the hilly area with contour terracing and also coastal planting.
