In Night, the theme is loss. This is illustrated in the text by telling us about how some people lost their things. Many people lost many of their belongings such as family members, teeth, homes, and personal belongings. In the beginning of the story, Elie lost his home because he and his family were forced to go to a concentration camp and work. Once him and his family arrived at the camp him and his father stayed together while his mother and sisters were killed. Towards the end of the book when the jews were running in the countryside, Rabbi Eliahou was looking for his son because he had lost him. But his son abandoned him during the winter march.
